IndoctrinationGate: The Plot Thickens…

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | September 24th, 2009

Well, this is what is really meant about a video going viral. In addition to the outrage and shock that has been expressed nationwide about the forced indoctrination of 5 and 6 year old students in one elementary school, a lot more has come out about the principals behind it.

It appears that one Charisse Carney-Nunes, the person who originally uploaded the video to YouTube, has more than a passing interest in Obama and schoolchildren.

As Modern Convservative reports: (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin)

According to the person who posted this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aqMTD5UFmU He downloaded the video from another youtube posting in case it got scrubbed.

The video was originally posted to youtube by user “BrandNuWords.” BrandNewWords is a publishing company employing Charisse Carney-Nunes who wrote the children’s book “I Am Barack Obama.” Here is the original video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayXz-r0lWmQ

The video is commented by the original poster with this: “Fathers day tribute to President Obama!! Children sing!”

Charisse Carney-Nunes appears to be the person who orchestrated the video

Carney-Nunes is the author of several children’s books and CEO of Brand Nu Words publishing. She and Obama are also former classmates from Harvard Law School.

…I am still digging:

She appears to be 100% gaga over Obama and she is the Senior VP of Programs for this far-left organization The Jamestown Project

The ExUrbanLeague reports:

n important update about the creepy video we posted yesterday. The Burlington Township School District, to which B. Bernice Youngs Elementary School belongs, posted the following Letter to Parents this morning.

Dear Burlington Township Families:

Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. King, Principal of B. Bernice Young School, directly.

Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher M. Manno,
Superintendent of Schools

So, a public school had an official lesson using impressionable children to praise Barack Obama. The song they used even co-opted lyrics from “Jesus Loves the Little Children” with Obama’s name inserted in place of God.

As for Carney-Nunes, (a hypenated last name, always a dead giveaway that the woman is a lefty) and the Jamestown Project, Michelle has this and more:

Charisse Carney-Nunes, who originally posted the Burlington Township (NJ) elementary school Obama chant video, has not responded to requests for comment — though someone did remove the video from her account this morning, as I mentioned earlier today. I linked to her bio at the Jamestown Project, where she is Senior Vice President of Programs. (FYI: In this interview, she says she has accepted a job with the Obama administration’s Transportation Department.)

And a sneak peek into it’s curriculum:

From its curriculum guide for 3rd-5th graders:

Children Do Democracy Too is an outgrowth of our Doing Democracy work. The purpose of the initiative is to equip children with the knowledge and tools necessary to meaningfully participate in civil society and democracy. The central question we seek to answer is, “How do we instill the values of citizenship and active participation into the youngest, and in many ways the most important, members of our democracy?”

The Jamestown Project released A Children’s Curriculum for Civic Engagement in the Fall of 2008 as part of this initiative. The curriculum is based on our book I DREAM FOR YOU A WORLD: A COVENANT FOR OUR CHILDREN.

The Curriculum adapts the concepts from the book into lessons and activities to promote civic engagement to elementary aged children. Grades 3 – 5 are the optimal age for children to not only understand their place in the world, but also a time to begin to comprehend their power and potential to make a difference in their own lives, their family, their communities, and their country.

We are currently piloting the curriculum and seeking new partners to help us evaluate the program, share learning, and to strategize about achieving future goals.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along…
