The “roar” that started it all: Rick Santelli’s Famous “Tea Party” rant (02/19/09)

Posted by Talismen | April 13th, 2010

Here’s a “shot in the arm” for all who intend to participate (in some fashion) in this year’s April 15th “Tax Day Tea Parties” around the country, coming up later this week. Let us never forget Santelli’s words, or the frustration that inspired them and an entire political movement!

Well, So Much for that “Civility Agreement”; The Terrorist Left Returns to their Normal, Hateful Ways

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | March 27th, 2010

The usual suspects. The usual vermin-based behavior.

And the beat goes on…

Three Tea Party Buses attacked Rocky Harry Picture Show thugs:

From Gateway Pundit:

The biased writers at the Associated Press said the tea party in Nevada would “draw angry crowds” today.

Supporters of Democratic Senator Harry Reid attacked the Tea Party Express bus today in Nevada.

This statement was just released: (via Paramount Communications)

Supporters of Senator Harry Reid have just thrown eggs at the Tea Party Express bus caravan – striking at least one of the three buses (the red Tea Party Express bus) with multiple eggs.

About 35 Reid supporters had lined Highway 95 in front of the Nugget Casino in Searchlight where they were attempting a counter-demonstration the tens of thousands of tea party supporters who are gathering for the “Showdown in Searchlight.”

More details to follow…

Also, Andrew Breitbart was threatened with violence from Reid’s Ton Ton Mocoutes:

From Founding Bloggers:

Supporters of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid staged a counter-protest today in Searchlight, Nevada, the Senator’s hometown. Reid supporters gathered just down the road from the launching point of the Tea Party Express tour, and when Breitbart happened upon them, he was met with threats of violence. At least one protester threw an egg at Brietbart, missing him. Eggs were also thrown at the Tea Party Express bus.

To add insult to insult, Reid supporters called the police to report that Breitbart had provoked an incident.

Since Palin is to be the keynote speaker, God only knows what will happen next with these baboons on the loose.

SEND A MESSAGE: Rallies in D.C. on Sat. 03/20/10 (& ramifications of ‘obamacare’ passage)

Get there if you can. null

We already know what the consequences will be, if this bill passes. Massive tax grabs, citizens being forced to buy health insurance or pay a fine (and if you can’t pay the fine, you face jail-time), and tax hikes beyond comprehension…And all of that is just for starters.

We know there would be legal challenges to the bill, and we know that several states are threatening (or considering) lawsuits, in order to protect their citizens. (That, by the way, is called Federalism. The 10th amendment to the constitution allows for it, and the states have every right to do so, if they choose.)

But, what you may not know is the size and scope of the political “pandora’s box” if “deem and pass” is used as it’s never been used before, to pass an entire piece of legislation without a vote, as opposed to simply inserting amendments into an already agreed-upon bill. The WH has already signaled they won’t promise that “deem and pass” wouldn’t be used on other legislation in the future. What does that equal?

Dictatorship….pure and simple.

Spread the word.
Stay informed and stay involved!

‘Hell-thcare’ or high water: Dems scramble…Tea Party deploys…Citizens remain fed up!

Posted by Talismen | March 16th, 2010

The march towards ‘obamacare’ started as one that obama, pelosi and reid thought wouldn’t last more than 1 summer. But, tired and angry citizens had simply had enough of government not listening to them, and began to rally. The “Tea Party”, “10th amendment”, and the “Going Galt” movements grew, by leaps and bounds, and WE THE PEOPLE began to re-awaken and take our country back!

And now, it’s come to this…After over a year of this obamacare BS, we’re supposedly now in the “final stretch” of passing the latest bill-to-end-all-bills for the ultimate government takeover of our lives. Remember, when government “provides” you with a “service” or “aid”, they also BY DEFAULT get to tell you how to live a portion of your life because you’ve accepted that “service” or “aid”. Imagine what they’ll get to do, when they’ve taken over your medical care.

From the last few day’s headlines, I’ve picked the following (and make sure you click each link to access embedded source links and video or audio clips within each piece):

Link (h/t RedState): Trying to Pass the Bill without Voting on it will Rank up with the Nebraska Kickback
…It seems obama, pelosi and reid would just like to “deem” the senate version “passed” in the house, without actually taking a vote on it. But, parliamentary rules say otherwise. Still, dems will do anything, including violate the constitution AND the will of the American people, in order to pass this bill, and take over a good portion of our lives.

Link (h/t RedState): Gallup: SHUT UP ABOUT HEALTHCARE, DEMOCRATS
…All that ‘hope and change’, down the drain, huh? Folks know this health care bill is full of shit, and have been trying to tell their representatives that very thing. But as always, they are being ignored. One should ask themselves WHY government is ignoring the will of the American people, when it should be clear by now, after the protest rallies and numerous polls taken over the past year, that Americans ARE NOT in favor of government-run health-care! It’s no wonder dems and indy voters are identifying with the angst and determination found within the “Tea Party” movement!

Link (h/t Michelle Malkin): Constitution Butchers: Stop Pelosi’s Slaughter House; Update: Dems don’t have the votes
…Michelle Malkin has a great update on the latest news, including many embedded links and resource info for contacting reps and senators in Washington.

Link (h/t HotAir): Dem caucus chairman: The public doesn’t much care what procedure we use to pass this thing
…So, this guy (along with many of his colleges) STILL believes that (in essence) Americans are stupid, they don’t pay attention, and don’t really care about the goings-on of government. They never learn, do they? Prove them wrong!

Link: Washington Post: House may try to pass Senate health-care bill without voting on it
…If they do that with THIS bill, what other bills will they attempt to pass using this UNCONSTITUTIONAL maneuver? Think about it for a minute.

Here are two links that I’d like for you to considering using, and then pass around….

The contact list for ‘Blue Dog’ Democrats (h/t SmartGirlPolitics). The ‘Blue Dogs’ are an important group, representing the more ‘stable’ side of the democrat party. The side we’ve rarely seen over these past 10 years or so. Even if the ‘Blue Dogs’ aren’t your reps in congress…Give them a call, send them an email, or fax them, and encourage them to stand firm. And while you’re at it, call or email your own representatives and senators. Let them know, even if you’ve done it already, that you do not want government to take over your health-care!

The other, is here (h/t RedState).
If you oppose this bill…If you oppose what it will do to you and your children, and your grand children, and all future generations….Get on the phone, send an email, or fax. But don’t remain silent. We’ve been silent for too long, and never in the history of our country SINCE the Revolution, have we faced a government this arrogant and this willing to violate the constitution! One that REFUSES to listen to the MAJORITY of American citizens, and continues to push forward with the take over of our very lives! So, stand up now, or be ready to stay on your knees later, because by then, you may not have a choice.

Also, if you’re in the area, a “Tea Party” rally is scheduled for March 16th in D.C., hosted by the folks at Freedom Works.

Brits Catching Tea Party Fever

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 26th, 2010

Being England and all, it should be the Afternoon Tea Party.

In any case, good to see that the disaffection with the usual budget busting, irresponsible Leftist policy is starting to bubble up from under the surface even in Old Blighty.

From Daniel Hannan’s Telegraph Blog – Hat Tip: ASPF)

The inaugural British Tea Party will take place on Saturday in my home town of Brighton, and I’ll be speaking. Do try to come: here are the details.

Labour has raised more than a trillion pounds in additional taxation since 1997. Yet, unbelievably, Gordon Brown has still managed to run up a deficit of 12.6 per cent of GDP (Greece’s is 12.7 per cent). A far lower level of taxation brought Americans out in spontaneous protest last year.

If you happen to be coming to the Conservative Spring Conference, do please pop in: the Tea Party is five minutes’ walk from the conference venue. It is, however, outside the security zone, and anyone is welcome to come. Oh, and this being England, we’ll be serving actual, you know, tea. I hope to see some of this blog’s readers there.

Comments seem rather divided. However, here is one that could have been written by one of Pelosi’s 14 year old interns:

LOL! I expect about 5 people will turn up – all the usual swivel-eyed, frothing Europhobes, public sector-hating Thatcherites.

The deficit is under control. Why do you persist in talking down our economy, thereby undermining confidence?

Here is a sample of the text from a call to action from Hannan.

Simon Jenkins raises a question that has been nagging at me for some time. Why is there no British Tea Party?

Where are the crowds of revenue slaves flocking to London to demand redress for the squandering of their money? Marginal tax is rising to 50%, VAT to 17.5% and state spending towards half the national product. The Treasury has lost control of public finance. So why no furious blue-rinses, bail-out haters, bonus-bleaters and embittered VAT victims storming Parliament?

Yeah: why? Some of my US readers believe that anti-tax rebellions are an American speciality, but we’ve had plenty of them in this country, from the Poll Tax Riots of 1381 (the Peasants’ Revolt) to the Poll Tax Riots of 1990. The doctrines that inspired the Boston mutineers – above all, the idea that taxes should not be levied without parliamentary process – were borrowed from English political theory.

Indeed, as Hugh Brogan drily observed in his History of the United States, the taxpayers’ revolt which sparked the American Revolution began on this side of the Atlantic: the Seven Years War had pushed taxes up to 25 shillings a year for the average Englishman as against sixpence for the average colonist, and MPs were determined to export part of that cost to North America.

More power to you, Mr. Hannan. The Dems are absolutely doomed here in 2010. Hopefully we can say the same about Labour soon enough.

The Tea Party movement and the honing of civil discourse

Posted by Talismen | February 23rd, 2010

As American citizens, we each have a constitutional right to petition our government for redress of grievances. And down through the ages, since the beginning shot of the Revolution, to the last verbal barrage launched at a Tea Party gathering, Americans have engaged in this practice time and time again.

But, for the last 150 years or so, government has learned that the more they ignore the voice of the “common man”, the more power they can claim for themselves and then feign stupidity when an angry citizenry finally makes enough noise to be heard throughout the halls of congress, the cloakrooms of the senate, and the dark, dusty corners of the White House itself.

Last year, as the Tea Party movement gained steam, it was clear that those in power who haven’t been listening, along with their elitist friends in the media and “entertainment industries”, started running scared. Never had the collective anger of constituents scorned ever been so loud, forceful and relentless.

And to this very minute, that anger continues, growing even more forceful, and determined NEVER to relent.

But, as with all political “movements”, the Tea Party is seeing its share of “growing pains”. These “growing pains” are puzzling to some, and a concern for others. Yet, one must remember that without such “growing pains”, one cannot “grow” in the first place. And THAT is what the Tea Party movement is doing…Growing, by leaps and bounds. It is altogether right and good that this happens.

During this season of “growing pains”, we must remember the Tea Party movement is at it’s best when it is allowed to remain free-flowing, decentralized, and mobile. It is a force for political good…An “injection” of common sense into a political system that has lost ALL sense.

In an upcoming “Weekly Standard”, well-known conservative author and blogger, Mary Katharine Ham writes:

(snips)

Will the tea partiers drag the GOP toward the unelectable fringe? Will the conservative movement tap into the antiestablishment energy of the tea partiers? Will the Republican party adopt the ideas of either? Can they all come together without sullying the grassroots authenticity of the tea party movement? Will they or won’t they form a third party? Is this the beginning of a beautiful relationship, or is someone going to get used?

****

The tea partiers are often portrayed unfairly as either far-right rubes or stealth agents of big business. Talking to those at CPAC, it was obvious that being new to the political process doesn’t mean they’re bad at it.

It is understandable that some folks are now wondering if the Tea Party movement, as a whole, will go to far right,…So far that those who call themselves “moderate dem” or “independent” will shy away from the movement.

The answer should be, and I predict will be: “NO!”

What the Tea Party movement is doing, and will continue to focus on, is to hone itself into the most powerful political force known in modern times. A force that will serve as a CONSTANT “reminder” for both major political parties that Americans are tired of the political BS! They are here to remind government:

Stop spending so much!
Stop taxing so much!
Stop telling individuals that you will help them, only to reach into their pockets and take more in taxes out of their hard-earned paychecks!
Stop taking over private industry and businesses, masking it as a “rescue”! This is the United States of America, not Soviet Russia!
Stop insisting that money in someone’s pocket automatically means they didn’t work their butts off to earn it!
Stop threatening people into buying a product or service they neither want, nor need!

….I could go on, but I think the point is made.

Above all, the Tea Party movement, at its core, is about government accountability.
For far too long, Americans have not held up their end of the “bargain” by holding their elected officials accountable. Our government was designed for a citizenry that REMAINS aware, alert and active in the daily goings-on of government, AT ALL LEVELS, from local to federal. It’s taken a long long time for this “awakening” to take shape, but it is finally happening, in the form of the Tea Party movement.

There is no way on God’s green earth that this movement should be wasted or distracted into forming 3rd parties. And it shouldn’t be gullable enough to become nothing more than a PAC.

No….This is a blinding force of individual freedom and constitutional vigilance.

And this force will either be reckoned with, or it will “clear the road” and make room for those who realize that freedom and liberty are not to be trifled with, and the constitution should be honored, respected and followed.

Texas Tea: Revolution Talk in the Lone Star State

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | March 13th, 2009

Revolutionary talk is in the air. You can see it, hear it and most of all, feel it. Even as the Democratic Party State Television Networks (this is the MSM for those of you in Berkley) continue to pretend it does not exist.

Between the explosion of Tea Parties that have popped up like desert flowers after a Spring shower (Michelle Malkin has all of the updated links here) and now some very surprising, though very welcome words coming the Texas Legislature, I would hope (and think) that a LOT of politicians on both sides of the aisle are starting to really quake in their boots. To quote Adm. Yamoto after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, “We have awakened a sleeping giant.”

From TractionControl.com from the Texas Governor’s Conference Call:

This is not a transcript, but I do believe it communicates the tone of our Texas Conservative Leadership.

We. Are. Pissed.

“Our first response was to tell the Federal Government to keep their money and leave Texas the hell alone … but the reality is that the money is not theirs, it’s OURS. Texas is a donor state – paying more into the Federal Funding systems than we receive. If Texas were to refuse the $16 Billion of the stimulus the money would still be spent – just in other states.” [- attributed to several - Ed.].

The question, as Rep. Linda Harper Brown phrased it is, “How to determine the true cost to Texas?” – Down the road, when the strings attached are pulled. We have to do a cost benefit to see what can be accepted and what (like the unemployment relief and associated obligations) should be refused.

Later in the article, there is some yummy, red meat.

Rep. Wayne Christian actually went where I never thought a Government Rep. would go. He said there were three options.
One is Revolution;
Two is Insurrection; and
Three is Self-Rule – with Self-Rule being working within the system, participating in the Politics, opposing wrongs and standing for the right principles.

Hopefully, the speed and magnitude of this stimulus – coupled with the lack of real choice from the payors (taxpayers) and the payees (States) has not rendered option three moot.

I’ve always liked the independent streak that Texas has always had. (Just a shame most of them are Cowboys fans) It is something that is long overdue to be tapped into once again, if this country is to escape the 100 Year Marxist Plan that has been festering in the U.S. since the Wilson Administration. Maybe if Obama does one thing, it will be to help bring down the crumbling wall of Socialism due to his radical overreaching, ala the Berlin Wall and relegate the Democrat party and it’s appendages to the ash heap of history.
