Obama and Dems Rapped and Hip-Hopped in New Parody Video

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | March 4th, 2010

Like about 99% of Americans, I could care less about rap or hip-hop. However, the video below, produced by OTP (for One Term President) is very clever, well written and well performed. Take a look for yourself:

A PC Christmas Carol: No room at the Inn for Traditional Xmas Songs

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 13th, 2009

The Left’s relentless attack on Christmas and Christianity continues unabated. This time with the help of the that foppish band of mutton eating cowards, the Church of England.

Your favorite carols have been “updated” and “modernized” to include the Left’s favorite cultural whores.

From The Telegraph: (Hat Tip: FC)

Enduring favourites such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing and God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen are being altered by clergy to make them more “modern and inclusive”.

But churchgoers say there is no need to change the popular carols and complain that the result is a “festive car crash” if not everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.

It comes just a day after a Church of England vicar banned his congregation from singing O Little Town of Bethlehem because he believed its words do not reflect the suffering endured by modern residents of Jesus’s birthplace.

Another clergyman has rewritten the Twelve Days of Christmas to include Aids victims, drug addicts and hoodies.

And The One, as expected, is crashing the party at the Nativity Scene:

From Reuters:

NAPLES (Reuters Life!) – President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are appearing in Italian nativity scenes this year, alongside the baby Jesus and wise men, according to Naples craftsmen selling figurines in the run-up to Christmas.

The production of handmade figurines for nativity scenes is big business in this southern Italian city and has been for centuries.

But beyond the thousands of angel, sheep, Mary and Joseph figures filling market stalls before Christmas, craftsmen say Obama has become a top seller.

“The ones we are selling the most of are those of Barack Obama, America’s new president, along with his wife Michelle,” said craftsman Genny Di Virgilio.

At this rate, people will be singing:

“Joy to Allah,
The One has come”

or

“Hark, the herald community organizers sing,
Glory to the SEIU”

The Perfect Politically Correct Stocking Stuffer: Burkha Barbie

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | November 21st, 2009

burkha_barbieI cannot say that I am too surprised by this one, as I have made jokes about this very subject over the years. And as usually is the case with leftists and radicals, today’s jokes become tomorrow’s realities.

As mentioned over at Stop The ACLU (Hat tip to them for this), this is not a joke or a prank by some obscure website looking to make a few dollars off of a distasteful idea. This is a dead serious subject that is being taken up by companies like Sotheby’s, for example.

From The Daily Mail:

One of the world’s most famous children’s toys, Barbie, has been given a makeover – wearing a burkha.

Wearing the traditional Islamic dress, the iconic doll is going undercover for a charity auction in connection with Sotheby’s for Save The Children.

More than 500 Barbies went on show yesterday at the Salone dei Cinquecento, in Florence, Italy.

And this gem:

The company director of Laird Assessors from The Wirral, Cheshire, said: ‘Bring it on Burkha Barbie, I think this is a great idea.

‘I think this is really important for girls, wherever they are from they should have the opportunity to play with a Barbie that they feel represents them.

However, I see a fatal design flaw with this doll. The head is still attached to the neck.

If a Picture is Worth a Thousand Words…

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | October 7th, 2009

…then this one sums it up in just two. (or maybe four…or maybe six)

Hat Tip to Legal Insurrection

From the New York Times (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin)

Another contemporary work chosen by the Obamas is a word painting by the California artist Ed Ruscha. Called “I Think I’ll … ” it deals with the subject of indecision. The work depicts a brilliant red sunset against which Mr. Ruscha has painted phrases like “Maybe … Yes … ” and “Maybe … No … ” and “On Second Thought.”

Since we are dealing with “maybes”, “indecision” and “coulda, woulda and shouldas”, I feel that the image displayed below is one hell of a lot more accurate. As in “s*** or get off the pot” as opposed to voting “present” over 100 times in the Senate and start dealing with the real issues at hand, like a nuclear Iran, undermanned troops in Afghanistan, an economy in tatters etc etc etc..(my apologies for the imagery)

Art. Call it as you see it.

IndoctrinationGate: The Plot Thickens…

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | September 24th, 2009

Well, this is what is really meant about a video going viral. In addition to the outrage and shock that has been expressed nationwide about the forced indoctrination of 5 and 6 year old students in one elementary school, a lot more has come out about the principals behind it.

It appears that one Charisse Carney-Nunes, the person who originally uploaded the video to YouTube, has more than a passing interest in Obama and schoolchildren.

As Modern Convservative reports: (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin)

According to the person who posted this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aqMTD5UFmU He downloaded the video from another youtube posting in case it got scrubbed.

The video was originally posted to youtube by user “BrandNuWords.” BrandNewWords is a publishing company employing Charisse Carney-Nunes who wrote the children’s book “I Am Barack Obama.” Here is the original video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayXz-r0lWmQ

The video is commented by the original poster with this: “Fathers day tribute to President Obama!! Children sing!”

Here is the info for the profile of this youtube channel:

The website for the company associated with this youtube channel: http://www.brandnuwords.com/

Charisse Carney-Nunes appears to be the person who orchestrated the video

Carney-Nunes is the author of several children’s books and CEO of Brand Nu Words publishing. She and Obama are also former classmates from Harvard Law School.

…I am still digging:

She appears to be 100% gaga over Obama and she is the Senior VP of Programs for this far-left organization The Jamestown Project

The ExUrbanLeague reports:

n important update about the creepy video we posted yesterday. The Burlington Township School District, to which B. Bernice Youngs Elementary School belongs, posted the following Letter to Parents this morning.

Dear Burlington Township Families:

Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. King, Principal of B. Bernice Young School, directly.

Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher M. Manno,
Superintendent of Schools

So, a public school had an official lesson using impressionable children to praise Barack Obama. The song they used even co-opted lyrics from “Jesus Loves the Little Children” with Obama’s name inserted in place of God.

As for Carney-Nunes, (a hypenated last name, always a dead giveaway that the woman is a lefty) and the Jamestown Project, Michelle has this and more:

Charisse Carney-Nunes, who originally posted the Burlington Township (NJ) elementary school Obama chant video, has not responded to requests for comment — though someone did remove the video from her account this morning, as I mentioned earlier today. I linked to her bio at the Jamestown Project, where she is Senior Vice President of Programs. (FYI: In this interview, she says she has accepted a job with the Obama administration’s Transportation Department.)

And a sneak peek into it’s curriculum:

From its curriculum guide for 3rd-5th graders:

Children Do Democracy Too is an outgrowth of our Doing Democracy work. The purpose of the initiative is to equip children with the knowledge and tools necessary to meaningfully participate in civil society and democracy. The central question we seek to answer is, “How do we instill the values of citizenship and active participation into the youngest, and in many ways the most important, members of our democracy?”

The Jamestown Project released A Children’s Curriculum for Civic Engagement in the Fall of 2008 as part of this initiative. The curriculum is based on our book I DREAM FOR YOU A WORLD: A COVENANT FOR OUR CHILDREN.

The Curriculum adapts the concepts from the book into lessons and activities to promote civic engagement to elementary aged children. Grades 3 – 5 are the optimal age for children to not only understand their place in the world, but also a time to begin to comprehend their power and potential to make a difference in their own lives, their family, their communities, and their country.

We are currently piloting the curriculum and seeking new partners to help us evaluate the program, share learning, and to strategize about achieving future goals.

Nothing to see here, folks. Move along…

This one’s for Sarah (Project 2,996)

Posted by Talismen | September 11th, 2009

This is Sarah Prothero-Redheffer.
She was taken from this world, 8 years ago, on September 11th 2001.

This year, my forum board, All Sides Political Forums is participating in “Project 2,996″, which is an annual online event, honoring those lost in the 9/11 attacks.

Link: http://project2996.wordpress.com/

Posted below is the tribute written for her.

Many Thanks,
Lisa (a.k.a. “Talismen” – site owner and admin)

********************

Just days after the 9/11 attacks, Rev. David Prothero said “I think for the moment we are living in hope that she will be one of those found and that she has been able to escape”.

His 35 year old daughter Sarah Prothero-Redheffer, an executive with the London-based Risk Waters Group, was organizing a conference on the 106th floor of the North Tower, when American Airlines Flight 11 slammed into the building…Changing David Prothero’s world, and ours, forever.

A tribute to Sarah, featured on the Risk Waters Group website (dedicated to employees lost on that day) said that Sarah was “a tornado of energy and enthusiasm when the rest of us would need to stop for air”. We all seem to know folks like Sarah…Those who have endless amounts of energy and can rally for a cause, or be there when we need them most.

The tribute went on to say (in part):

Sarah led her life passionately because a quiet life simply wasn’t an option. The faith and trust she placed in her team made us a unique force and we count ourselves so very fortunate to have met such a youthful and vibrant spirit. To say Sarah was a feisty character is an understatement.

Dedicated, professional and caring are just a few of the qualities that she brought to the workplace. Always on hand to give advice, Sarah could be relied upon to bring humour to any situation and had an enviable habit of turning difficult situations around.

On that fateful day and for weeks after, Sarah’s friends and family waited for word, hoping and praying that Sarah would not only survive, but would soon return to calm their anxious hearts and fill their outstretched arms.

They were hurting…Just as we all were hurting…And continue to hurt…From the horrible losses suffered that day.

It’s easy to envision that Sarah (with her “feisty character”) may have been one of the angels who helped to calm the injured, look for a way out, or merely pray to God for their safety. A few of her friends and loved ones have left comments on a memorial site for her, some of which give clues to the kind of love and compassion Sarah gave to the world, and how the world suffers a great loss without her energy and spirit:

(snips)

“Sarah, still regret not being able to meet up with u in Sydney the month before the NY event……….
Our brief time as colleagues and partners back in London remains well up on my ‘good times’ list buddy, wherever u r I am sure u r making people smile and keeping them on track.
x “

“Sarah and I were at University together and she was a good friend, though I hadn’t seen her for a few years. I heard the news only today March 2004 from another University friend. She was one of life’s naturally positive people, full of buzz and energy, playful and mischevious and above all a wonderful person with a heart of gold. On hearing this awful news, a little bit of me died too. My deepest sympathies are with her husband and family.”

It is said that everyone is loved by someone….And, well…It’s clear to see that Sarah was loved by many.

And she is missed by many, to this very day.

Her life was spent taking care of what needed to be taken care of.
People could count on her, and she did not let them down.
That was Sarah.

And on this 8th anniversary of her untimely death, those of us left to mourn her and the event itself, should consider it our mission to follow Sarah’s good example, and ‘take care of what needs to be taken care of’, forever honoring the memory of all those lost, all those who mourn, and all those brave souls who helped to bring comfort and closure to folks like Sarah’s parents, her husband, and the rest of her family and friends.

We must never forget Sarah….Nor any one of them.

Thank you Sarah.
Your loving spirit still moves people to this very day.
