The Obama War on the Private Sector Continues: “For Profit Companies” to have Paid Internships Stripped

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | April 10th, 2010

How convenient. Take away incentive from private companies to offer internships. This would not lead to an increase of “community organizing” internships at places like ACORN, the SEIU or the Center for American Progress, now would it?

From The Washington Times Blog: (Hat Tip: Hot Air)

The New York Times reported that Nancy J. Leppink, the acting director of the department’s wage and hour division said, “If you’re a for-profit employer or you want to pursue an internship with a for-profit employer, there aren’t going to be many circumstances where you can have an internship and not be paid and still be in compliance with the law.”

The unemployment rate among teenagers and college students is at 26 percent, and if companies are forced through government regulation to pay these interns, companies will look re-work their budgets to be in compliance, and less students will be offered internships. This means less students can be brought in and gain valuable experience in a work place environment. The federal government is attempting to change the entire point of gaining work place skills and create yet another under – served demographic of victims falling prey to private sector companies.

It is amusing to see the Obama administration creating the image of poorly treated unpaid interns, when Mr. Obama’s Organizing for America offered internships to help elect the president in during his presidential campaign and are still offering up unpaid internships today. The Summer organizing program also does not even offer food, transportation, or housing stipends[.]

Message to teens looking to acquire job skills: “Don’t dirty your hands by helping out a GREEDY, EVIL, PROFIT MAKING company and learning skills that would actually help them and you to selfishly provide for yourself. No, come to Community Organizer U and we shall teach you all of the skills needed to rabble-rouse, agitate, disrupt, vandalize, assault and mouth the words of the Alinskyite.”

Best comment:

Hilarious… you have to pay up to be turned into an alinskyite…

But I’m sort of a hypocrite… I interned at one of our (government) national labs and got paid handsomely for it… no way I would have done it for free…

I think the internships should be structured to promote maximum engagement… the people who will get hardest by this minimum wage rule are high schoolers and college freshmen… after they’re decimated and youth unemployment reaches a crises they’ll all be herded into rigged alinskyite “volunteer” programs… and then businesses will be taxed to pay for their college education…

Leftist Nutroots Ready to Throw Obama Under the Bus?

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | March 20th, 2010

You probably did not think you would see this at DuH (aka Democrat Underground), so soon into The One’s administration.

It would appear that the Meth/Kool-Ade High has finally worn off, even in such mentally disturbed places like DU. That portends even more disaster for the Dems as a party.

ObaKrishnas: At a Local Airport Near You

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | June 22nd, 2009

So it appears that the Hare Krishnas and rude ticket agents are not the only ones you have to avoid at the airport nowadays.

If the story related below is any indication, we can look forward to seeing these ACORN droppings showing up at your local DMV, unemployment office, doctor’s office and probably your local supermarket to boot.

You might want to keep a pair of WAHL clippers handy in case these people try to convert you.

Read Michelle Malkin’s experience at the Denver International Airport today:

I’m at Denver International Airport waiting to pick up family.

In Terminal East, I was accosted by two young people from an outfit called “Progressive Future.” They are standing with clipboards and propaganda pimping Obamacare.

Don’t have time right now to look them up, but I asked one of the young Obama-bots who funded his group.

He didn’t know.

Wouldn’t be surprised if stimulus dollars or AmeriCorps funding was subsidizing this.

A Trend? Obama Supporters Flooding Conservative Sites?

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | January 14th, 2009

I read a lot of blogs and sites. A LOT. Not too surprisingly, most of them are conservative in nature. While I have been by the cesspools at DU, Daily Kos etc over the years, I always feel like I need a pound of Lava soap after visiting such places, so they get little action from me. Besides, if I want to hear Dem/Leftist/Obama Talking Points, I can always go to the less profanity-and-mental-illness-laced sites such as the New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, Newsweek and hear the chorus of the “Mantra Word of the Day” that they all repeat like Michael Moore’s stomach after a bean and cabbage dinner.

However, just very recently I have noticed a definite trend in the comments section of some of the blogs/sites that I frequent most everyday. And a trend I am seeing is a definite uptick in comments that either:

1) Support Obama and say, “Oh, just give him a chance” (Like Bush was ever given a chance even a month before he first took office). A lot of these comments are typed out using proper English and grammar. (A rarity nowadays, especially coming from liberal commenters) A good example of that would be from a recent Politico blog entry here.

or

2) The usual YTCT type. What is a YTCT, you may ask? It is a little acronym I made up awhile back that is short for You Tube Commenter Type. If you have ever spent 5 seconds on YouTube and then spent another 3 seconds going over the comments section below a video, you doubtless have seen the incoherent invective that is spouted there like kudzu on steroids. Mindless drivel typed out with grammar that would make a rap star blanch and spelling that would drive Mavis Beacon to suicide. The just-struggling-to-reach-double-digit IQ types that think the word “escargot” means a stolen car driven by an illegal.

A good example of that would be from a StopTheACLU.com post. About Dems and their whining when it comes to “stolen elections”. STAC usually will have about 5-10 comments per post, but this one had 65. I do not think it was a coincidence.

The above are just a couple of examples, as I do not want to list 100 links and bore the reader to tears reading over the same drivel over and over and over. I am just making a simple point and if you do a little research of your own, I feel you will come to the same conclusion. Or not.

While I am no Grassy-Knoll conspiracy nut, I also know that things like these do not happen randomly or out of the blue. Whether it is the Dinosaur Media repeating the same Talking Point Word over and over, covering for the Obama Permanent Campaign Team thoroughly by hiding or dismissing the long litany of charges and shady/criminal elements that have been by his side from Day One, the intimidation that was visited upon PACs and radio shows by Obamabots via flooding the phone banks or asking the DOJ to launch a probe to those who dare would produce a commercial that simply told the truth about the above mentioned questions of corruption or sleaze. Not to mention the embrace of the Fairness (read Censorship) Doctrine or a Zimbabwe-like “community” (read paramilitary) force that is in the Obama Stimulus Package etc etc, we are seeing an attempt at a fundamental societal change being brewed by those up high.

And I feel the comment-flooding is just one more arrow in their arsenal to quiet all dissent.

Losing the luster – Obama supporters starting to whine

Posted by Talismen | November 21st, 2008

As predicted, Obama supporters are beginning to furrow their brows, as they slowly come to the realization that their “messiah” really can’t deliver on all his promises to them.

Despite the fact that they were sold a bill of goods that no politician could ever deliver, they obviously still expected him to bring about the “change” they supposedly could only dream of. So now, “the one” is beginning to lose his luster, and those of us who knew he wasn’t all he was cracked up to be are considering taking up a collection to buy a cork for the whine starting to come from his supporters:

First, we had his campaign workers crying about not being paid what they were promised.
See this article at Jawa. Here’s a snip:

“They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90,” said Charles Martin.

“I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned,” said Randall Waldon.

Now there are reports of those in the so-called “anti-war” movement (I can think of a better name for that “movement”) crying over what looks like a more hawkish assembly of cabinet members for the incoming administration.

Case in point, here’s a bit of news from an LA Times article (written by Paul Richter). The “anti-war” (read “anti-American”) crowd is pouring out some of their own whine as well:
(snip)

Antiwar groups and other liberal activists are increasingly concerned at signs that Barack Obama’s national security team will be dominated by appointees who favored the Iraq invasion and hold hawkish views on other important foreign policy issues.

The activists are uneasy not only about signs that both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates could be in the Obama Cabinet, but at reports suggesting that several other short-list candidates for top security posts backed the decision to go to war.

“Obama ran his campaign around the idea the war was not legitimate, but it sends a very different message when you bring in people who supported the war from the beginning,” said Kelly Dougherty, executive director of the 54-chapter Iraq Veterans Against the War.

Ahhh yes. Obama didn’t know what he was getting into, when he bent over and grabbed his ankles for the extreme left.

So, in an effort to get these “brow-beaters” off his back, Obama has dispatched members of his team to lower expectations for the dear “messiah”, in an attempt to calm his “beloved peasants” (apologies to Carol Burnett). See this article from CBS2Chicago (written by Mike Flannery):
(snip)

President-elect Barack Obama and his inner circle fear that some voters expect him to turn around the economy, wind down the war in Iraq and, perhaps, cure cancer — all by the Fourth of July.

They know they must manage and lower those expectations, CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports.

A top economic advisor to Obama had a glum warning for the rest of us Thursday morning: Neither the job market nor the stock market will be turning around any time soon.

“This might be a long haul,” said Robert Reich, who was President Bill Clinton’s secretary of labor. “2009 is going to be a very hard year. Some economists say we won’t be out of this for two years, others are saying it may be three, or four, maybe five years.”

Now on Obama’s transition team, Reich worries about what happens after the new president is sworn in Jan. 20.

“We all have to be very careful about the expectations that we are putting on this man, our president-elect,” Reich said. “If we all assume it’s going to be the first 100 days, we’re going to be disappointed.”

But….but….I thought this man’s election would “slow the rise of the oceans”?
I thought he would begin to “heal” the planet?

Hmmmm????
