Maybe Judge Bolton should have used this example in her ridiculous parade of “what-ifs” that marked her decision to strip the meat of out the the Arizona SB1070 law.

But then again, since it is reality and does not fit the Leftist unicorn-flying Nirvana, we instead have to see the outrage of these cartels using the public lands that your tax dollars pay for being used as a base of operations for their criminal activity.

Police in California say they have seized $1.7bn worth of marijuana plants in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

They have also arrested 97 people over the past three weeks, most of them Mexican nationals believed to have ties with Mexican drug cartels.

White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said police had found industrial-sized plantations of marijuana.

Experts say Mexican cartels are increasingly growing marijuana in the US, rather than smuggling it there.

450 officers from local, state and federal agencies took part in the raids in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California.

They found more than a hundred locations where marijuana was being grown illegally.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said the marijuana plantations were a danger to local residents, as the organised crime gangs behind them “don’t just grow marijuana on our public lands”.

As one comment put it:

That, by the way, is 1,200,000 ounces of prime grade weed, or enough for the entire DNC, Journo List, and MSM.

With over 450 officers involved in over 100 raids, it seems to me that a very large “undue burden” was placed on law enforcement. Not to mention to residents who live in and around these areas.

The stench of Youth Dew has not even faded from Helen Thomas’ seat and already the usual leftist suspects and their Soros-funded groups are clamoring for and sending out mass mailings to have one of their pet “networks” butts be placed in that seat.

I just heard this on The Mark Levin radio show. Something that should make your blood pressure rise even more.

It looks like there is a memo making the rounds in Congress that is suggesting a mechanism to grease the skids for an amnesty program that would bypass any Congressional vote or approval. And as is usually the case, let the bureaucrats make up the rules, set the standards and call the shots.

According to an internal U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services memo going the rounds of Capitol Hill and obtained by National Review, the agency is considering ways in which it could enact “meaningful immigration reform absent legislative action” — that is, without the consent of the American people through a vote in Congress.

“This memorandum offers administrative relief options to . . . reduce the threat of removal for certain individuals present in the United States without authorization,” it reads.

Also: “In the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, USCIS can extend benefits and/or protections to many individuals and groups by issuing new guidance and regulations, exercising discretion with regard to parole-in-place, deferred action and the issuance of Notices to Appear (NTA), and adopting significant process improvements.”

While the memo does not seem to suggest a massive, all-inclusive amnesty ala the McCain-Kennedy bill, it looks the thrust of the memo’s suggestions would be to do it in large chunks.

The memo claims that there are no limits to USCIS’s ability to use deferred action, but warns that using this power indiscriminately would be “controversial, not to mention expensive.” The memo suggests using deferred action to exempt “particular groups” from removal — such as the illegal-immigrant high-school graduates who would fall under the DREAM Act (a measure that has been shot down repeatedly in Congress). The memo claims that the DREAM Act would cover “an estimated 50,000” individuals, though as many as 65,000 illegal immigrants graduate high school every year in the U.S.

So, just like with first the Supreme Court and now the Obama administration giving law-making and regulatory fiat power to the EPA to implement Crap and Steal, the same type of chicanery would now be applied to the enforcing (or not) of the status of illegal immigrants.

With less then 24 hours to go before the new Arizona SB1070 law was to into full effect, the usual illegal lobby suspects were able to get one of their leftist puppet judges to temporarily strike down several of the most important elements of the new state law.

A federal judge on Wednesday blocked the most controversial parts of Arizona’s immigration law from taking effect, delivering a last-minute victory to opponents of the crackdown.

The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.

“Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked,” U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled.

She ruled that the controversial sections should be put on hold until the courts resolve the issues. Other provisions of the law, many of them procedural and slight revisions to existing Arizona immigration statute, will go into effect at 12:01 a.m.

The ruling came just as police were making last-minute preparations to begin enforcement of the law and protesters were planning large demonstrations to speak out against the measure. At least one group planned to block access to federal offices, daring officers to ask them about their immigration status.

The volume of the protests will likely be turned down a few notches because of the ruling by Bolton, a Clinton appointee who suddenly became a crucial figure in the immigration debate when she was assigned the seven lawsuits filed against the Arizona law.

Lawyers for the state contend the law was a constitutionally sound attempt by Arizona — the busiest illegal gateway into the country — to assist federal immigration agents and lessen border woes such as the heavy costs for educating, jailing and providing health care for illegal immigrants.

No surprise that she is both a Clinton appointee and was also supported by the likes of John Kyl and John McCain.

At least that’s what could happen if Congress doesn’t approve President Obama’s proposal to extend the Making Work Pay tax credit soon.

The credit, introduced last year as part of the government’s stimulus package, boosts paychecks by up to $400 for single filers and up to $800 for joint filers, by reducing the amount of tax withheld from each paycheck.

And that extra $15 bump you’re used to getting each bi-weekly pay period is slated to expire at the end of the year unless Congress votes to extend the credit, much like the Bush tax cuts…

And because of the steep cost of keeping the Making Work Pay tax break around — about $60 billion to extend it one year — Marr said he wouldn’t be surprised if Congress doesn’t end up passing the extension.

What is most ironic about all of this is that the money that was “credited” back to you will be taxable income. So you get screwed both ways. First a phony tax cut that could not even pay for a Democrat’s latte at Starbucks and then being penalized for taking it in the first place. In the retail world, that is called “bait and switch”.

You know, this is what happens when you have an entity, in this case Mother Nature, that operates free of the absurd dictates of federal departments and it’s various regulations, bureaucrats and other assorted government termites.

For 86 days, oil spewed into the Gulf of Mexico from BP’s damaged well, dumping some 200 million gallons of crude into sensitive ecosystems. BP and the federal government have amassed an army to clean the oil up, but there’s one problem — they’re having trouble finding it.

The leak is capped and the spill appears to be shrinking, but where is it going?

At its peak last month, the oil slick was the size of Kansas, but it has been rapidly shrinking, now down to the size of New Hampshire.

Today, ABC News surveyed a marsh area and found none, and even on a flight out to the rig site Sunday with the Coast Guard, there was no oil to be seen

Sound familiar? It should, since back when the Exxon Valdeze capsized and spilled tons of oil into Prince William Sound over 20 years ago, the same doom and gloom scenario of eco-systems being devastated for decades or even centuries was also predicted. However, those Chicken Littles were given a Moe Howard poke-in-the-eye when not 8-9 months later, there was a record salmon catch in that same area. Mother Nature seems to have a particularly wicked sense of humor when it comes to sticking it to the various elements of the enviromarxist movement.

No one is denying the damage done to wildlife, coastal eco-systems and the like. However, only part of that was due to the oil spill itself. The other half of that equation was the administration’s absolute determination to refuse to allow assistance of any kind, whether foreign or state-based, to help slow the spill’s spread. Booms and berms either sat in warehouses thousands of miles away or those that were on hand, were kept from being deployed in a timely manner. Ditto that for skimmers or oil-sucking barges, some of which were actually stopped by the Coast Guard in order to check for life vests and fire extinguishers. Does this sound like Tom Daschle’s old saying, “If you want professionalize, federalize?”

No, the real lasting damage of this whole episode was to those who rely on the Gulf Coast for their livelihoods. Fisherman, oil workers of all stripes as well those who rely on the tourist trade. Less because of the spill, but more so due to administration dictates, such as shutting down off-shore rigs the Gulf over, and the White House’s Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force new report and probable executive order that could devastate the commercial and sport fishing industry. Not to mention the damage done to coastal beach areas, which are hardly inviting for out-of-state tourists to visit.

Of course, the real (not-so) secret here is that the Gulf Coast states are solid red states, that Obama lost badly on the whole. So like the case with the TN floods, the administration and their congressional lackeys were going to do all they could to punish those who would dare oppose the Master of the Second Great Leap Forward.
