Pope Benedict XVI Assaulted Before Christmas Eve Mass

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 25th, 2009

I suppose it was inevitable. After all, these little Lefty, terrorist wannabes must be getting bored of rushing the stage when Coulter or Malkin are on the stage. So they go after an old man instead.

From Town Hall:

A woman jumped the barriers in St. Peter’s Basilica and knocked down Pope Benedict XVI as he walked down the main aisle to begin Christmas Eve Mass on Thursday.

The 82-year-old pope quickly got up and was unhurt, said a Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Ciro Benedettini. Footage aired on Italy’s RAI state TV showed a woman dressed in a red jumper vaulting over the wooden barriers and rushing the pope before being swarmed by bodyguards.

At 82 years old, a fall could be quite serious, even though the Pope appears to be in very good shape for a man his age.

Benedettini said the woman who pushed the pope appeared to be mentally unstable and had been arrested by Vatican police. He said she also knocked down Cardinal Roger Etchegaray, who was taken to hospital for a check up.

Well, of course she is mentally unstable. She is obviously a disciple of the ACORN/SEIU School of Dissent.

Merry Christmas all.

Obama: The First Black, Red-headed Stepchild

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 23rd, 2009

Here is something I had not heard of until today. Then again, I paid little attention to the Hopenhagen conference, as it was just another example of ideological masturbation for the Left and their hippy and Enviromarxist concubines.

However, with this exchange as reported by WELT, a German publication, it seems that Obama threw the kind of temper tantrum that is normally reserved for a 5 year old at the candy counter or an ACORN rep being denied their daily bottle of Wild Turkey.

(Hat Tips to Pajamas Media, Small Dead Animals and FC which first alerted me to this)

From WELT: (Google Translation)

The US president BO had hardly arrived when he let it be known, “the time for talk is over.” From now on, he would take over the leadership of the negotiations.

Together with German Chancellor Merkel, the heads of Russia, Brazil, Japan, the EU and other prominent countries, Obama went to work. But things didn’t go like the Nobel prize winner had imagined. Only German Environment minister Norber Roettgen remained optimistic. Despite the tough negotiation, he opined, there could be a resulting compromise. “Today we throw the dice.”

Instead, it turned into a fiasco. [...]

According to rumors from the Bella Center, President BO is said to have asked for a conversation with Wen jibao to bring up the matters. But O had to wait. Wen, according to the rumors, almost never left his hotel room and could not be found. Finally the US Delegation succeeded in finding the chinese premier in a conference room. An obviously angry Obama is said to have stormed into the room. “Are you ready yet to talk with me Mr Premier?” he is said to have shouted. “Are you ready now? Mr Prmier, are you ready to talk with me?” What a stage entrance for a US President.

However, Wen was not alone in the room, as Obama literally burst in, according to members of the congress. The Chinese (premier) was in the middle of talks with India’s head of state Mammohan Singh and the South African president Jacob Zuma. Suddenly the group found itself forced into a conversation with the US president.

A complete and total embarrassment.

RINO Without Horns – Crist Loses Two Key Endorsements

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 22nd, 2009

Democrats are not the only one who will probably be put on the Political Endangered Species List come November 2010. RINOs the country over should be just as nervous about their prospects.

Like that Obama-hugging Florida governor, Charlie Crist.

From the Miami Herald Blog: (Hat Tip: Red State)

Lincoln and Mario Diaz-Balart have pulled their endorsement of Gov. Charlie Crist for the U.S. Senate.

Lincoln offered few details as to why, just that Crist had “left us no alternative and he knows why.”

From Crist spokeswoman Andrea Saul: “Gov. Crist is enthused by the support he continues to receive across the state for next year’s primary. He looks forward to working with the Diaz-Balart’s and the entire congressional delegation to better the lives of Floridians as Florida’s next U.S. senator.”

The move is a significant blow to the governor’s campaign, which has struggled in recent weeks with sliding poll numbers. Diaz-Balart said the withdrawal has nothing to do with Crist’s recent political performance, and in fact, said the the decision was made weeks ago. But their names were only recently pulled off Crist’s webpage. He said the two Miami Republicans are unlikely to endorse anyone else in the race — including former House Speaker Marco Rubio.

The pair doesn’t take endorsements lightly — backing Bill McCollum in the Senate Republican primary in 2004 against the eventual winner, Mel Martinez.

“We take our endorsements seriously, but the governor knows why we withdrew and he left us with no alternative,’ Lincoln Diaz-Balart said.

Crist has all of the RINO trappings down pat. From being a Judas when it came to betraying Romney in the FL 2008 GOP primary, to stumping with Obama earlier this year trying to get the Pokulus bill passed to what Erick at Red State said, “I have heard, though I do not know if it is true, that they are unhappy with a number of Crist’s recent policy decisions and a suggestion that Crist would be weak on Cuban policy. That last bit is a huge issue in South Florida.”, he seems to have everything that a Dole/McCain/Graham supporter could possibly want.

And that makes him a marked man in today’s political climate. And it certainly does not help that he has an up and coming young star in the conservative movement in Marc Rubio to contend with.

I peg Crist’s chances of winning the GOP primary as good as Jim Zorn being retained as the Redskins head coach past January 15.

The Official Beginning of the GOP 100+ Seat Takeover – Griffin Switches to GOP

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 22nd, 2009

As Charlie Chan said: “A long journey starts with the first step”.

Well, the first step towards the goal of removing the Democrat Party from the reins of power in Congress, and potentially relegating them to their smallest minority status in generations, officially starts today. As Rep. Parker Griffith (D-AL) has announced that he will switch to the GOP.

From Politico: (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin)

POLITICO has learned that Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that he’s switching parties to become a Republican.

According to a senior GOP aide familiar with the decision, the announcement will take place in this afternoon in his home district in northern Alabama.

Griffith’s party switch comes on the eve of a pivotal congressional health care vote and will send a jolt through a Democratic House Caucus that has already been unnerved by the recent retirements of a handful of members who, like Griffith, hail from districts that offer prime pickup opportunities for the GOP in 2010.

The switch represents a coup for House Republican leadership, which had been courting Griffith since he publicly criticized Democratic leadership in the wake of raucous town halls over the summer.

Griffith, who captured the seat in a close 2008 open seat contest, will become the first Republican to hold the historically Democratic, Huntsville-based district. A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.

This dovetails well with the growing wave of Yellow Dog Democrats who are stepping down rather than be flogged at the polls:

From USA Today:

WASHINGTON — Veteran Tennessee Rep. Bart Gordon on Monday became the fourth centrist Democrat in three weeks to announce his retirement, leaving his party with another tough-to-defend seat in next year’s elections.

“It’s going to be a difficult cycle for Democrats,” said Stuart Rothenberg, publisher of the non-partisan Rothenberg Political Report.

Gordon is one of 11 Democrats who have announced they will not run for re-election. On the Republican side, 12 House members are retiring or running for another office, such as Delaware’s Mike Castle, who has announced his bid for the Senate seat long held by Vice President Biden. Rothenberg rates seven of the Democratic open seats as potentially changing parties, compared with three Republican open seats.

“We have more swing districts overall,” said Rep. Chris Van Hollen, a Maryland Democrat who heads his party’s congressional campaign committee. “We’ve said from Day One that this is going to be a very challenging cycle.”

Both parties work hard to keep retirements to a minimum, because incumbents generally have an advantage in winning elections. In 1994, the retirement of 28 Democrats proved the harbinger of a Republican takeover of the House.

Outside of Pelosi and Bernie Sanders, I would not want to be a Democrat who is up for re-election next year. There is likely to be electoral carnage, the likes of which may never have been seen before.

Nelson’s Fan Dance Ends: Bends Over for Pork and ObamaCare

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 19th, 2009

We have this seen Texas Two step 1,000 times before and like the end of an episode of Star Trek: Voyager, you can predict the ending even if you are out of the room with the dishwasher running full tilt.

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) has, as expected, “caved” on being the lone Democrat holdout on ObamaCare. It now appears that the mentally disabled Senate Leader, Harry “Where is my Zoloft?” Reid now has the 60 votes in order to get this Genocidal bill to the Senate floor.

As posted over at Michelle Malkin:

9:53am Eastern. Nelson caved. The Senate clerk is now reading the Reid amendment….the full, 383-page amendment is here…Democratic caucus is meeting off the floor. Nelson to speak at 10am Eastern. Dem leadership to crow at 10:45am Eastern….Nelson announces support at press conference. Says he is satisfied by abortion language. He reads a perfunctory statement praising Reid and White House, then says with the most passion in his voice: “I reserve the right to vote against the next cloture vote if there are material changes” made in conference.

As Legal Insurrection puts it:

This is the worst of Washington. Payoffs, lies, deceit, and deception. Oddly enough, I’ve come to have more respect for the left-wing advocates of single-payer than the so-called moderates who will sell their principles for money. At least the left-wing has principles, even if I disagree with those principles. The moderates like Nelson and Landrieu have no principles, at least none that cannot be sold.

Where is Evan Bayh? His silence has been deafening.

Well, I have ZERO respect for the left-wing advocates of single-payer or the Left in general. However, they DO have a goal, as evil as it is. Which is more than you can say about the Senate Streetwalkers like Nelson, Bayh and Mary Landfill. Those whores have more Political STD’s then a roomful of Thai Hookers standing outside the Clinton Library.

Commenter Toaster put it correctly, and in just the same way as I have been advocating for a long time:

I will not take years to undo. It will take a backlash of anger from middle America and the election of people committed to restoring the Republic. Then, after the bums lose their office, the trials can start. demo-rat or “republican”, those who sought to damage this country will pay. They want to put Bush and his policies of trial, so they opened the door for it.

Want to win in 2010/12? run on one issue, restoring the rule of Constitutional law. That means the dismantling of government worker unions, removing activist judges and scaling back the federal machine to what it really takes to make the trains run on time.

Pie-in-the-sky? Maybe. But why not Aim High?!

Indeed. The Left has been aiming “high” for the past 80 years on this and 1,000 other policies. No reason for Congress not to be cleaned out thoroughly and start printing out those DOJ and FBI arrest warrants and have the new Congress start a massive crackdown on this administration, the Dem leadership and all of their Soros-backed criminal front groups.

A PC Christmas Carol: No room at the Inn for Traditional Xmas Songs

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | December 13th, 2009

The Left’s relentless attack on Christmas and Christianity continues unabated. This time with the help of the that foppish band of mutton eating cowards, the Church of England.

Your favorite carols have been “updated” and “modernized” to include the Left’s favorite cultural whores.

From The Telegraph: (Hat Tip: FC)

Enduring favourites such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing and God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen are being altered by clergy to make them more “modern and inclusive”.

But churchgoers say there is no need to change the popular carols and complain that the result is a “festive car crash” if not everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.

It comes just a day after a Church of England vicar banned his congregation from singing O Little Town of Bethlehem because he believed its words do not reflect the suffering endured by modern residents of Jesus’s birthplace.

Another clergyman has rewritten the Twelve Days of Christmas to include Aids victims, drug addicts and hoodies.

And The One, as expected, is crashing the party at the Nativity Scene:

From Reuters:

NAPLES (Reuters Life!) – President-elect Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are appearing in Italian nativity scenes this year, alongside the baby Jesus and wise men, according to Naples craftsmen selling figurines in the run-up to Christmas.

The production of handmade figurines for nativity scenes is big business in this southern Italian city and has been for centuries.

But beyond the thousands of angel, sheep, Mary and Joseph figures filling market stalls before Christmas, craftsmen say Obama has become a top seller.

“The ones we are selling the most of are those of Barack Obama, America’s new president, along with his wife Michelle,” said craftsman Genny Di Virgilio.

At this rate, people will be singing:

“Joy to Allah,
The One has come”

or

“Hark, the herald community organizers sing,
Glory to the SEIU”
