There’s been a great deal of whining and complaining coming out of the White House in the last 9 months. Most recently, they had a hissy fit over the supposed “unfair and unbalanced” Fox News. Because Fox presents BOTH sides of the issue, the obama administration aimed and fired in their direction. Apparently only obama’s version of what is news should be reported…Or at least that’s the impression given by the White House over this whole thing.

The Obama administration on Thursday slammed a report from The Associated Press alleging the government had overstated by thousands the number of jobs it has created or saved with federal contracts under President Obama’s $787 billion recovery program.

The White House seized on an initial report from a government oversight board weeks ago that claimed federal contracts awarded to businesses under the recovery plan already had helped pay for more than 30,000 jobs. The administration said the number was evidence that the stimulus program had exceeded early expectations toward reaching the president’s promise of creating or saving 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.

But the 30,000 figure is overstated by thousands — at the very least by nearly 5,000, or one in six, based on AP’s limited review of some of the contracts — because some federal agencies and recipients of the money provided incorrect job counts. The review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs were credited to stimulus spending when, in fact, none were produced.

Within minutes of the publication of AP’s story, the White House released a statement at 12:15 a.m. Thursday that it said was the “real facts” about how jobs were counted in the stimulus data distributed two weeks ago.

“This story draws misleading conclusions from a handful of examples,” Ed DeSeve, an Obama adviser helping to oversee the stimulus program, said.

“Tomorrow, more than 100,000 recipient reports will be posted on Recovery.gov,” DeSeve said. “Unlike the small number of reports reviewed by AP, these reports have been reviewed for weeks, errors have been spotted and corrected, and additional layers of review by state and local governments have further improved the data quality.”

“If I weren’t president, I would be happy to catch the shuttle with my wife to take her to a Broadway show, as I had promised her during the campaign, and there would be no fuss and no muss and no photographers,” he said. “That would please me greatly.”

Presidents, however, don’t travel by any means other than secure government aircraft or vehicles.

Obama added: “The notion that I just couldn’t take my wife out on a date without it being a political issue was not something I was happy with.”

Mental derangement is an interesting thing. In movies, books and plays, it can be a hoot. A loon, stalker or killer can be given all sorts of character traits, motives and reasons to go off the deep end and satisfy their deep-rooted urges and impulses. It matters little how logical, coherent or even sane those urges or motives are. What is important is the bait. The hook. The catch. And if the author is crafty enough, he/she can even tap into the dark side of the audience and make them even secretly root for and admire the nutjob. Think Hannibal Lecter.

However, it is a lot less funny when that same derangement and lust for destruction, aimed at either one person and/or an entire political party, comes from someone who shares the powers of the federal purse strings and is also given virtual carte blanche when it comes to the vast resources of the federal government. A person who has easy access to most any media outlet, and knows he has 100% protection from his higher-ups to utter the most outrageous statements, no matter how defamatory, libelous or mentally deranged they are. Which brings us to one, Rep. Alan Grayson, (D-FL).

Normally, a political party, or a sect within that party will have an attack dog. Or two or three. They are there to feed red meat to their base, provoke outrage from their opponents and generally just stir the pot. Sometimes they will make their over-the-top comments to energize a demoralized base or to distract their opponents and the media from what is really going on in the background.

However, in Grayson’s case, we seem to have someone who seems to have a Political Mark of Cain. One whose tone, rhetoric and venom is akin to a rattlesnake being whipped in a dog crate with a 10′ long stick.

From the despicable and mentally unbalanced statements made by Grayson on the House floor about how Republicans want seniors to “die quickly” to his now calling a female Fed advisor a “a K Street whore” we see what can happen when the elixir of the fantasy of unchecked power can have upon not only a leftist Democrat, (who axiomatically would already have delusions of grandeur) but one whose sanity synapses are not firing in their proper order. Frankly, I do not think this man is competent to serve as a public official, or even as a 3rd-string Wendy’s fry cook. He more reminds me of those creepy high school janitors you used to see in those old 50’s shorts and movies, who everyone knew was a loon and a creep, but who the director kept vainly trying to portray as a normal character, just along for the story’s ride.

This speech is Political Projection Perfected. A sterling example of accusing your opponents of what you yourself and your party are guilty of. (e.g. “Culture of Corruption”, “cutting your Medicare”) Of course, with government-run care, or to use the more accurate term I coined many months back, MengeleCare, getting sick, especially if you are elderly or handicapped in some way, is a very probable death sentence. For your illness, your condition, your medicine and your care is literally in the hands of a nameless, faceless, bureaucratic gray blob whose only purpose for existing is to crunch numbers, meet bottom lines and treat every “patient” as a number in a spreadsheet cell. 1984’s Big Brother has nothing on the indifference, inefficiency and ineptitude of a government bureaucracy, which is truly the closest thing to Purgatory on Earth.

While some House Democrats have shown at least a small shred of decorum and have decried Grayon’s outbursts, it would appear that the White House is A-OK with them. At a recent Florida fundraiser, Obama called Grayson, along with Florida Reps. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Kendrick Meek, “outstanding members of Congress.” That pretty sums up where we are today in PoliticalSpeak nowadays. Below Ed Norton’s feet.

Dems Vote to Give ACORN Regulatory Authority

WASHINGTON – During consideration of H.R. 3126, legislation to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee voted to pass an amendment offered by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions.

The Waters amendment adds to the CFPA Oversight Board 5 representatives from the fields of “consumer protection, fair lending and civil rights, representatives of depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, or representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgages” to join Federal banking regulators in advising the Director on the consistency of proposed regulations, and strategies and policies that the Director should undertake to enforce its rules.

By making representatives of ACORN and other consumer activist organizations eligible to serve on the Oversight Board, the amendment creates a potentially enormous government sanctioned conflict of interest. ACORN-type organizations will have an advisory role on regulating the very financial institutions from which they receive millions of dollars annually in direct corporate contributions and benefit from other financial partnerships and arrangements. These are the same organizations that pressured banks to make subprime mortgage loans and thus bear a major responsibility for the collapse of the housing market.

So, an organization that is under investigation in more than a dozen states for voter fraud, embezzlement and tax evasion is to be given virtual regulatory authority over entities that they receive and disperse funds from. That is, when they are not stealing taxpayer funds meant for legitimate governmental duties.

Start-up publisher OR Books has announced plans to publish Going Rouge: Sarah Palin An American Nightmare, a collection of essays about the maverick Republican with a title — and cover design — remarkably similar to Palin’s upcoming memoir. What’s more, OR’s paperback tome will be released on Nov. 17, the same day that Palin’s own Going Rogue: An American Life hits shelves — and one day after Palin’s just-announced, first-ever appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show. Going Rouge is compiled by Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, two top editors of the left-leaning weekly The Nation, and includes essays by Nation regulars like Katrina vanden Heuvel, Naomi Klein, and Katha Pollitt. It’s the first release from OR Books, a fledgling outfit founded earlier this year by publishing veterans John Oakes and Colin Robinson that “embraces progressive change in politics, culture and the way we do business,” according to its website.

Would “the most honest account” have to be wrapped in a deceptive cover, intended to confuse consumers into buying the wrong book? If it doesn’t start out with an honest approach, why should we trust that the same people who made that decision will be honest inside the covers? For an answer to that, we only need see the list of essayists included in this rehash of old Palin-opposing material, who include such straight-arrow observers as Amanda Marcotte, Max Blumenthal, Eve Ensler, and Jane Hamsher. Hamsher made her biggest political splash when she put Joe Lieberman in blackface during his re-election campaign. Marcotte got fired from the Edwards campaign for her vilification of religious believers in language bad enough to actually embarrass Edwards — and given Edwards’ history, that’s saying something indeed.

The whole thing looks like a bad Mad Magazine takeoff of a book, which is the impression that The Nation leaves with its Going Rouge cheapie. And the bottom line is this: after 150 years of publication, The Nation has to piggyback off of a Republican VP candidate to achieve relevance. Have The Nation’s editors become so insecure about their product that they feel they can only sell it through deception? In that, it has a lot in common with their progressive agenda.

The Left has become nothing more than a baby with eternally full diapers and the mental capacity to match. The only problem is that they are the ones at the wheel.

Here is a new one from ACORN.

Instead of the usual dead, illegal or Mickey Mouse fraudulent ballots being used to steal an election, they now will send their agents to collect information from you and will cast your ballot for you.

Brian Suozzo voted with an absentee ballot in the Working Families Party primary on Sept. 15 because, as his application stated, he was “at home recovering from medical procedure.”

Jessica Boomhower’s application said she would be attending a “work conference in Boston.”

Michael Ward couldn’t vote in person because he was “taking care of elderly parent.”

Kimberlee Truell was on a “Bus trip to casino,” as was Miguel Vazques.

The only problem with these absentee ballot records at the Rensselaer County Board of Elections in Troy, N.Y., is that they’re phony, voters and investigators say — and they’ve prompted what’s being called an unprecedented investigation of suspected voter fraud.

Thirty-eight forged or fraudulent ballots have been thrown out — enough votes, an election official admits, to likely have tipped the city council and county elections in November to the Democrats. Candidates would have been able to run both on the Democratic and Working Families Party lines in two weeks, and that could have given the Democrats the general election.

And this is all you really need to know:

Hillary Clinton garnered 2.7 percent of her total votes from the WFP line when she first ran for Senate in 2000, which increased to 5 percent of her total vote in 2006. In September, Clinton’s former campaign manager for her 2000 Senate run, New York City Councilman Bill DeBlasio, who has been endorsed by the WFP, beat two long-established politicians in the Democratic primary. Critics also accuse the Working Families Party of having a long association with the troubled activist group, ACORN. Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s CEO, is one of the party’s co-founders. The New York Times reported this month that “Patrick Gaspard, the White House political director, worked with ACORN in New York to set up the Working Families political party and sat on the party’s board with Ms. Lewis.”

I wonder how of an impact this type of Chavez-like tactic will have in the NY-23 election which is coming up shortly.

Those victory champagne bottles are getting very warm and very flat.

In spite of having a 60-seat majority and several noodle-spined RINOS at his disposal, Senate Majority Leader Harry failed in spectacular fashion to invoke cloture and end debate (as if there has been any real debate) on S. 1776, the Medicare Physicians Fairness Act. (Read the bill at Thomas)

It is bad enough that he could not even get Snowe or Collins to jump over the fence for their usual legislative orgy sessions with the Dems, but the fact that he lost 11 of his own party members speaks volumes about how nervous even they are of this bill and concept. The 2010 elections are only 12+ months away and are only getting closer.

We, RedState readers, have defeated Harry Reid today and delivered a significant blow to the potential passage of Obamacare. We held every Republican Senator including Olympia Snowe and Richard Burr.

Harry Reid just ran to the Senate floor and cried that he cannot get enough votes to pass the doctors’ bribe to support Obamacare. He blamed the AMA for misleading him.

He might actually want to look to RedState. Our readers have generated hundreds and hundreds of phone calls in 24 hours to pretty much every Republican Senator. Several who had considered voting for cloture backed down.

Organizing for America, the spinoff of the Obama campaign, set a goal of 100,000 phone calls to members of Congress on health care today.

When we broke the news last week that President Obama would join the call-in parties via Webcast tonight, a Hill Republican said the number of calls seemed low given the size of the OFA email list.

Well the Democratic National Committee has offered a peek at their (self-reported) figures, and have been tweeting updates from the Obama Twitter feed all day. At 12:08, they tweeted it had reached 35,000 calls. At 12:53, it was up to 50,000.

As of this writing, it’s passed 90,000 calls. It went up by a few thousand calls in the last few minutes, so they will be hitting 100,000 fairly soon. My bet is they will trumpet that as a grassroots win and then raise the goal.

I see a lot of government-issued cell phone batteries dying.
