Well, it seems that not only is ACORN up to their usual tricks, but now it seems that there is a quiet “purge” of voters going on in six key battle ground states.
- Colorado
- Indiana
- Ohio
- Michigan
- Nevada
- North Carolina
From WDST.com:
NEW YORK (AP) — Tens of thousands of eligible voters have been removed from rolls or blocked from registering in at least six swing states, including Indiana and Michigan, and the voters’ exclusion appears to violate federal law, according to a published report.
The New York Times based its findings on reviews of state records and Social Security data.
The Times said voters appear to have been purged by mistake and not because of any intentional violations by election officials or coordinated efforts by any party.
States have been trying to follow the Help America Vote Act of 2002 by removing the names of voters who should no longer be listed. But for every voter added to the rolls in the past two months in some states, election officials have removed two, a review of the records shows.
The newspaper said it identified apparent problems in Colorado, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada and North Carolina. It says some states are improperly using Social Security data to verify new voters’ registration applications, and others may have broken rules that govern removing voters from the rolls within 90 days of a federal election.
And it is not happening in MA, HI, IL or MD? Tell me no!
But wait! There’s more!
It now appears that in Indianapolis/Marion County in Indiana, that there are more people registered to vote then the entire population of registered voters in the county. Shades of Tom Daschle and his Indian Casino buddies giving him a fraudulent win in 2002 over now-senator Thune.
From NewsBusters.org:
WANE, TV 15 out of Fort Wayne, for instance, reported on a visit to that city by Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita (R) who was there to talk about voter fraud. In Lake County the GOP is accusing the Democrats of vote fraud, but the report does not reveal any further details.
The Indianapolis Star, though, had more to say on the issue in an October 7 piece about early voting. After quoting exultant officials about how wonderful it was to see so many new voters registering, the Star had this to say about the Indy area.
In the county, 677,401 voters were registered as of Monday evening; that number was expected to continue growing as last-minute registrations are entered into the system. In 2004, the county had 602,918 registered voters.
Ed Treacy, Marion County Democratic Party chairman, said the campaign of presidential candidate Barack Obama brought in as many as 12,000 new registrations over the weekend alone.
“We’ve never seen anything like it,” Treacy said.
How exciting, eh?
And now to the dull math, so dull that the Indy Star didn’t seem disposed to undertake the effort. Paul K. Ogden, however, helpfully breaks out his calculator for the edification of the press.
According to STATSIndiana, In 2007, Indianapolis/Marion County had an estimated population of 876,804. Of that number 232,607 were below 18 years of age, for a total of 644,197 people in Marion County/Indianapolis 18 or over and thus eligible to vote. (Indiana allows felons to vote as long as they are not incarcerated).
So we have 644,197 people eligible to be registered in Marion County/Indianapolis, and 677,401 people registered. Congratulations go to Indianapolis for having 105% of its residents registered!
There are more registered voters than eligible ones in the capital city? And the media are not all over this?
Well, because as one comment noted, most of the GOP complaints about voter fraud are pointed at blue-as-Tidy-Bowl Gary, IN. A real shock, eh
And for to wrap things up, a little video entertainment. See voter fraud in action!
Hat-tip to Babalu Blog for video.
The comment by Claudia4Libertad sums it up perfectly:
so, there is NOTHING the government can do to stop ACORN??? We can put a man on the moon but we can’t arrest a bunch of 1960′s throwbacks???
Amen.
