Bloomberg? Dem King-Maker

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 18th, 2008

This is the first I have heard of this and I will do some more research since it is only rumor so far. But Armstrong Williams had an interesting tidbit in his column today:

The Obama campaign is now realizing that Clinton is willing to fight nasty by pushing for Michigan and Florida delegates to be included and by persuading super delegates by all available means. Well, the Obama camp is not sitting idly by and allowing the Clinton’s to do what they do best: continue their trail of corruption, and total disregard for rules and guidelines.

The word on the street is that the Obama campaign and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg have already met and devised an incredible plan if Clinton wins the nominee. Mayor Bloomberg would give nearly $1 billion to Obama’s campaign after which Obama would bolt from the Democratic Party and run as an Independent candidate with king-maker Bloomberg as his running mate. The Obama campaign realizes that Obama is too new at this game and doesn’t have the political weight of the Clintons to bring in the true heavy-hitters of the party’s hierarchy. So, according to sources it was Bloomberg himself who suggested this cunning strategy. It’s mind boggling that the Clintons are willing to destroy the entire Democratic Party, and potentially in the process lose the White House and seats in Congress, for their own selfish thirst for power and glory.

Senate Election Update

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 16th, 2008

Some races to keep an eye on.

From Rasmussen -

Colorado:

The tight race for Colorado’s open United States Senate seat has remained virtually unchanged over the past two months. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey found that former Republican Congressman Bob Schaffer holds a statistically insignificant lead over Democratic Congressman Mark Udall 44% to 43%.

Schaffer leads by seven among men but trails by two among women in the Centennial State. Udall earns support from 43% of unaffiliated voters while Schaffer attracts 32%. Schaffer leads among those who are married and those who have children living at home. Udall leads among those who are unmarried and those without children at home.

The two Congressmen have very similar favorability ratings. Schaffer is viewed favorably by 48% and unfavorably by 35%. Udall is viewed favorably by 46% and unfavorably by 39%.

New Hampshire:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in New Hampshire found former Governor Jeanne Shaheen leading incumbent Senator John E. Sununu in the race for New Hampshire’s United States Senate seat. It’s Shaheen 49%, Sununu 41%.

Any incumbent who is polling below 50% is considered potentially vulnerable. New Hampshire is one of several states where the Democrats may be able to expand their majority in the Senate.

Shaheen’s lead has increased slightly since September, when she led Sununu 48% to 43%.

Virginia:

In the 2008 Virginia Senate race, the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds Democrat Mark Warner leading Republican Jim Gilmore 53% to 38%. Both men are former governors of the state of Virginia.

The recent numbers are almost equal to those found in October, when Warner was leading 53% to 38%.

Warner earns support from a greater percentage of women (58%) than men (47%).

While Warner will probably cruise in VA and Sununu looks vulnerable, it is essential that the GOP capture the open the open CO seat, if only to staunch the bleeding. If Obama wins, he might carry some fairly long coattails and therefore the GOP could be fairly well devastated this November. I worry less about a Hillary victory when it comes to coattails, as there is not a ton of enthusiasm for her and the ones who will vote for her would vote for the Dem in any case as her supporters generally turn out to the polls at a high rate. In Obama’s case, if he does capture a higher than usual youth vote, that could be very significant in these close races.

As for McCain, I do not think a win by him will help the GOP in the Senate or House all that much. But it might keep a Senate seat or two and a few House seats that would have otherwise gone Dem.

Pelosi: Obey the rules

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 15th, 2008

Well, looks like Pelosi is sticking a few little daggers into The Bride of Satan’s back-door attempt to 1) co-opt and seat the Florida and Michigan delegates, in spite of the fact that they were not to count because those states could not keep their political pants on and just wait for their proper turn in the Dem primaries. And 2) to lap up as many Super Delegates as she can, so as to make any sort of back-door deal to make sure that they have her loyalty, in case she is within striking distance of Obama come convention time.

From SFGate.com:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — who may be the most super delegate of all as chair of the Democratic national convention in Denver — gave an interview with Bloomberg TV’s Al Hunt in which she laid down the law for super delegates:

Don’t veto the people’s choice.

“I think there is a concern when the public speaks and there is a counter-decision made to that,” she said, adding quickly, “I don’t think that will happen.”

She said the governors, lawmakers, DNC members and others picked as super delegates are chosen through a grassroots process and are accountable to the party’s voters.

“I do think that they have a respect — it’s not just following the returns, it’s also having a respect for what has been said by the people,” Pelosi said. “It would be a problem for the party if the verdict would be something different than the public has decided.”

I always had a feeling that Stretch never cared for the Bride and is probably also, along with a lot of Dems, sick to death of the Clintons and their megalomania when it comes to controlling everything within the party. Cannot say that I blame them.

Moonbat impeachment attempt fizzles…

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 15th, 2008

Boulder City Council falls on it’s face trying to impeach Bush and Cheney:

A move to draft a Boulder City Council resolution supporting the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney likely won’t get enough support to get off the ground Tuesday.

A canvass of the City Council shows there aren’t likely to be the five votes required to draft, debate and eventually hold a vote on the measure as activists have requested.

City Councilman Macon Cowles last week told his colleagues that he plans to ask for a vote Tuesday on whether to move forward with an impeachment resolution. For the past several weeks, supporters of such a move have been speaking at City Council meetings and handing out “Impeach” pins.

Cowles said the activists deserve to know whether the council will act on their resolution. But Cowles said he won’t support it, although he agrees with the sentiments it expresses.

“It’s a straight-up impeachment resolution, much like Congress can and probably should have begun investigating several years ago,” he said. “I am not interested in engaging in purely symbolic acts. … We obviously lack the power to act on any of the constitutional violations of the current administration.”

Seems like common sense has prevailed. Be thankful for small miracles.

Hill is Dead? Not so fast…

Posted by NosferatusCoffin | February 15th, 2008

Breaking Poll From Rasmussen:

Texas Dem Primary:
Clinton 54%
Obama 38%

Well, so much for The Bride of Satan for being “dead”. She has a healthy lead (for now) in Texas and is up by double digits in Ohio according to Rasmussen. I think Rush had it right when he said he will not believe she is dead until he sees the feet sticking from under the house.

Here is a portion of the report from Rasmussen:

When Election 2008 began, long before the first votes were cast, Senator Hillary Clinton led in the national polls but trailed Barack Obama in the key state of Iowa. Many remarked upon the difference between those national and state numbers. At Rasmussen Reports, we noted that if Clinton won Iowa, she could wrap up the nomination. On the other hand, if Obama won Iowa, he would have the chance to make his case but there would be no clear frontrunner.

Today, the situation is reversed. Obama leads nationally in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll and can wrap up the nomination with victories in the key states of Ohio and Texas. Clinton needs to win those states to keep her campaign alive. Yesterday, Rasmussen Reports released polling data showing Clinton with a double-digit lead in Ohio and the latest Rasmussen Reports polling in Texas also shows the former First Lady on top in the Lone Star State. Clinton attracts 54% of the vote in Texas while Obama earns 38% with nearly three weeks to go until Election Day.

If Clinton is able to win in both Texas and Ohio, the race for delegates will be just about even and there will be new talking points for the Superdelegates to consider before reaching a decision.

Wins for The Bride in Ohio and Texas combined with the Clinton Satanic Mafia’s almost certain power grab to seat the Michigan and Florida delegates will most likely spell a Hell on Earth convention in Denver.

Who said that once the Super Bowl is over, things get boring?
