As if feeling safe at airports, train stations, bus stations and sporting events was not enough, now we have the Ponch and John version of the TSA blue shirts who just cannot get enough of making us feel safe. No matter how hard we try not to.

VIPR teams which count TSOs among their ranks, conduct searches and screenings at train stations, subways, ferry terminals and every other mass transit location around the country. In fact, as the Los Angeles Times has detailed, VIPR teams conducted 9,300 unannounced checkpoints and other search operations in the last year alone. The very thought of federal employees with zero law enforcement training roaming across our nation’s transportation infrastructure with the hope of randomly thwarting a domestic terrorist attack makes about as much sense as EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson’s Environmental Justice tour.

Doing 70 in 65MPH road? The Blue Shirt will pull you over. Trying to pay a toll and have a “NEWT 2012″ bumper sticker on your car’s bumper? The Blue Shirt will demand a full inspection of your car. Have Rush Limbaugh on the radio? The cuffs will come out. (even though no TSA agent has any more authority than a mall rent-a-cop, for now, that is)

As TSOs continue to expand their presence beyond our nation’s airports and onto our highways, every American citizen has the right to know that they are not dealing with actual federal law enforcement officers. Had one Virginia woman known this days before Thanksgiving she may have been able to escape being forcibly raped by a TSO who approached her in a parking lot in full uniform while flashing his badge.

Is there anything being done to counteract this? Well, a little.

In order to help rein in the TSA I introduced H.R. 3608, the Stop TSA’s Reach in Policy Act aka the STRIP Act. This bill will simply overturn the TSA’s administrative decision by prohibiting any TSA employee who has not received federal law enforcement training from using the title “officer,” wearing a police like uniform or a metal police badge. At its most basic level the STRIP Act is about truth in advertising.

While I applaud Rep. Blackbrun’s efforts to rein in the TSA on this front, it is truly like giving aspirin to someone who has terminal cancer. The only true solution to this ever-intrusive and massive violation of the Constitution, is the total and utter dissolution of the Department of Homeland Security itself. Seeing that the TSA is just one of the many hydra heads of a totally out-of-control and unaccounatble agency, whose creation was never needed in the first place, Blackburn and any others who have an ounce of spine will need to draft a bill doing just that. And put to a vote, however many times it takes. (I know, fat chance there)

Not to mention, as one commenter mentioned on the Forbes site, this could actually end up empowering the TSA.

Rep. Blackburn is not calling for getting rid of the TSA as she ought; her bill calls for MORE training and MORE authority if they are going to do their jobs properly.

Unfortunately, congressional “solutions” to government’s inherit inability to govern itself usually just makes the situation worse in the long run. Just so.

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

I will admit both shock and skepticism over this, especially seeing the word “draft” is in the URL. Which in WordPress and other publishing platforms, like Drupal, means a post that has not been published for the public and for search engine/indexing. So, until there is 100% confirmation of this story, I will stay skeptical that this might be nothing more than a hack.

UPDATE: Seeing that FOX News is posting this as their top story and no word from Breitbart, it would appear that this very, very sad story is true.

RIP Andrew, you were at the very top of the heap of true patriotic, citizen journalists who did it the right way.

You just have to love when the Left’s own twisted pretzel logic comes back and bites them in the butt. It is just too bad the other 99.9% of the time, it is everyday America that has to traverse the politically correct legal landmines that the hive mind plants.

Prosecutors and the ACLU of Massachusetts said no matter the defendants’ sexual orientation, they can still face the crime of assault and battery with intent to intimidate, which carries up to a 10-year prison sentence, by using hateful language.

When it comes to such things, facts, the law and common sense always go out the window, since everything in cases like these are based on “feelings”, “injustices” and which lawyer can score the quickest buck and TV interview.

Knowing that, let us now use the Liberal Victimology Scorecard and see if we can break down who is truly at “fault”, using standard Liberal Hate Crime Methodology:

- The alleged attackers were all black females who claim to be lesbians.

Victim Scorecard: +3
One point for being female. One point for being black and one point for being a lesbian.

- The alleged victim was a gay man, and while the report does not report on the race of the man, judging by the fact that the three women claimed he used racial slurs, it is a pretty safe bet that he was a white male.

Victim Scorecard: -2
One point for being gay.
However, that point is deducted since he is a male.
Another point is deducted for being white.
Another point is deducted since he is a white male in a confrontation with a black female. (call it the Duke Lacrosse Handicap)

Verdict: This was a mismatch from the start, as black females win all Liberal Victimology contests, regardless of opponent. Being lesbian only adds icing to the cake and ensures a win over another straight, black female.

However, in spite of what the ACLU rep says, the judge gave the women bails of only $100-$500, so it looks like this case will probably melt away like snow in April.

America’s favorite agency to hate (well, aside from the IRS) is at it again. Incompetence, criminal behavior and typical government union laziness make another appearance.

Only 8? Considering that there are more blue shirts in the average airport than there are spandexed groupies at a backstage Madonna party, you would think it would be closer to 80. I suppose the donut shop was closed at that time.

To quote a friend of mine “No wonder terrorists won’t fly, TSA agents will steal their bombs.”

Just reason #38,883 that I NEVER check my bags. Ever.

The incident at New York’s LaGuardia Airport began at 11:30 a.m. when a screener discovered unidentifiable items inside a passenger’s carry-on bag. The officer screened the item for explosives, determined them not to be a threat and cleared the passenger through the checkpoint, a Transportation Security Administration official said.

All well and good. Except for when the next crew showed up and thought it was a possible “explosive”.

So……

The bomb squad removed the devices at 5:30 p.m. — six hours after they were taken from the passenger.

The devices were taken to a remote location for examination or disposal, one official said.

“We have still not been told what it was or what it was composed of,” Della Fave said.

Several law enforcement sources told CNN the objects were determined to be homeopathic medical devices.

Ok, so what is worse? The first agent leaving the pipes out in plain sight or the next crew’s agents playing bomb-squad and calling in the authorities hours later?

The Answer: What is worse that this agency, with nearly a decade of failure, incompetency, peodphiliac groping and cancer-causing scanning even exists at all.

As one comment said, “Who saw this coming?”

Just seven months after California-based solar power company Amonix Inc. opened its largest manufacturing plant, in North Las Vegas, the company’s contractor has laid off nearly two-thirds of its workforce.

Flextronics Industrial, the Singapore solar panel manufacturer that partnered with Amonix to staff the new $18 million, 214,000-square-foot plant, laid off about 200 of its 300-plus employees Tuesday.

Granted, only $5.9 million was given to Amonix, so it is still a bargain compared to the First Lady’s latest shopping spree.

Of more interest is that it appears that a good chunk of those laid off were not made aware that their jobs were only temporary.

The company scaled down at all levels of employment at the plant — which was hiring as recently as three months ago — from entry level assemblers, process engineers, production supervisors and quality-control techs, according to one employee who was laid off.

[…] Theodore Lewis, another employee, was working at the plant for six months before he and dozens of other employees were called into a mandatory meeting Tuesday.

“There was no excuse,” said Lewis, 34, who was never told his job was temporary. “They just said our job was done.”
