Texas Voters, all hat and no cattle

Sissy: You a real cowboy?
Bud: Well that depends on what you think a real cowboy is?

Texans talk a big game. They claim "we do things bigger in Texas". It's just a cute saying to make us look tough or bigger than we really are. Here is a newsflash, we aren't. We don't have bigger anything except for the most uninsured citizens or maybe the biggest mosquitos. Texas voters on the other hand can be the biggest voting idiots in the nation.

Texas voters want money out of politics but will vote for PACMAN, Ted Cruz, whose campaign is fueled by PAC money. They want our elected officials to tell the truth yet they will vote for Donald Trump who lies so many times on a daily basis the fact checkers cannot keep up. They want our politicians to be role models, someone their kids would aspire to be yet they vote for Donald Trump who cheats on his wife with porn stars. They want our politicians to stand up for their families in time of need yet will vote for Ted Cruz who couldn't even stand up to Trump when he attacked his own father and wife. Instead he bowed and whimpered in his shadow.

Texas voters want politicians to not say racist things or tolerate those who condone it yet they will vote for republicans who have said racist comments and have said nothing about the president's racist remarks. Harris County Judge Ed Emmett is a perfect example. He has hunkered down out of sight of trumps rabid followers, keeping to himself and quiet. They want politicians to stop inciting violence but will vote for Donald trump and his republican buddies who stay silent. They want politicians to treat women with respect yet will vote to Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller known for using the C word against women.

They want their families safe from gun violence yet will vote for nra endorsed candidates who advocate for guns on demand even though only 35% of Texans own guns. To them, talking about guns is just as tough as owning one, or wearing a cowboy hat.

The only thing bigger in Texas are the voter's talk. They talk a big game just like John Travolta in Urban Cowboy.

Where's the County Judge? (Ed Emmett)

I just can't believe Emmitt would ask this question in a mailer. In a previous post I have said No on Ed:
Emmett had the opportunity to restore his party to what it once was, a party that campaigned on “Family values” instead of family separation. A party that embraced facts and figures instead of deception, dishonesty and lies. A party that respected the rule of law instead of ignoring the law based upon who rules. He had the opportunity to stop his party from further moral erosion when their leader mocked a disabled American or a woman debate moderator. He had the opportunity to use his leadership to stop his party from unleashing angry, hateful attacks on Hispanics, Muslims, teachers, women, civil servants, the disabled, the gay community, and other constituents. Instead he sat quietly in the corner. This is a failure by Judge Emmett of moral leadership.
So Emmett has asked a good question. Where was Ed Emmett

Where was Emmett when his County Clerk, Stan Stanart, was posting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on his re-election website?

Where was Emmett when his County Clerk was not following the law at the polling locations?

Where was Emmett when his party went off on a racist tangent?

Where was Emmett when his party dismantled the Affordable Care Act leaving us to pay the County's bills for those who cannot afford health care?

Where was Emmett when his president mocked a disabled American?

Where was Emmett when the leader of his party called for massive tariffs?

Where was Emmett when his party passed the right to walk around with an AR-15 in public agains the wishes of law enforcement?

Where was Emmett when his party wasted money on a bathroom bill targeting the transgender community?

I'll tell you where Ed was. He was hunkered down in a dark corner waiting for the racist storm of his party to pass by before he sticks his head out and act like he cares. I cant give Ed a pass on this. I can't give anyone with an (R) behind their name a pass. As far as I am concerned the (R) does not stand for Republican anymore.

Republican teachers should be fired

What idiot thought this was a good idea? Thank God for Idaho!

From the NBC News:

The employees of Heights Elementary School dressed as a wall in cardboard in a group of costumes made to look like bricks. The slogan "Make America Great Again" was written in red, white and blue letters across their chests.
A handful of other school staff dressed in sombreros, serapes (a long blanket-like shawl) and wore fake mustaches and carried maracas. In one of the pictures, a woman appears to have written "Mexican" in capital letters across the brim of her sombrero.
Seriously, what idiot thought this would be a fun idea for elementary school kids? Besides the fact it is racist, they are public school teachers campaigning for their president on school property during school hours. Even if they did this off campus and in their private lives it would be considered a pretty stupid idea especially after posting pictures on social media, which they did.

They posted the pictures on the school districts facebook page, which, by the way, has been deleted. Not the pictures, the entire facebook site. Maybe its because they received over 2000 comment and the pictures went viral.

As I have said in a previous post (just yesterday):

This behavior has become a habit for republicans. Why do we have to tell republican elected officials not to be racist, not to mock the disabled, not to send dick pics, not to call a woman the C word, not to use the N word, and not to post anti-Semitic material on their re-election website?

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart removes anti-Semitic website

Why do we have to tell elected officials to not be anti-Semitic?

According to the Houston Chronicle:
After the Houston Chronicle posted an article Tuesday in which observers described the Soros attack as a "dog whistle" to anti-Semites, references to Soros disappeared from the site.

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart was  the subject of a previous post "Why do you have to be a dick about everything?" because of his dog whistle re-election website. This is the second time Stanart has had to be called out. Earlier this week Stanart wasn't going to enforce the law at an early voting location in Clear Lake by demanding a poll worker to remove his nra hat....until Fox 26 called him out on it. He quickly threw his workers under the bus and required him to either remove the hat or leave.

This behavior has become a habit for republicans. Why do we have to tell republican elected officials not to be racist, not to mock the disabled, not to send dick pics, not to call a woman the C word, not to use the N word, and not to post anti-Semitic material on their re-election website?

It's as if they don't want to be an elected official anymore. We can help them on November 6.

TX Senator Ted Cruz "You can be Hispanic and a racist too!"

Leave it to Ted Cruz to voluntarily step in a political pile of poo.  From Bloomberg:

Representative Steve King of Iowa, who has been abandoned by Republican leaders and donors over his embrace of white nationalists and for rhetoric that has been denounced as racist, said he got a supportive phone call from Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, who’s facing a tough re-election battle of his own.

Steve King has been well known for making racist comments even on the House floor. Cruz called his latest event of embracing white nationalists as "disappointing" and "Divisive". According to Cruz:

"I find Congressman Steve King's comments disappointing and divisive, but I am looking towards 2020 and King can help me win in Iowa."

Actually he didn't say that but its as if he did. Earlier in the week, Cruz a Canadian-Cuban-American was in south Texas claiming he was more Hispanic than his challenger Beto O'Rouke, which would not be hard to say since Beto is not Hispanic. He is Irish-American and has never claimed otherwise. His name "Beto" was a nickname given to him as a child like many of his friends and kids named Roberto or Gilberto.

Cruz claiming he is Hispanic, when he hasn't before, is strange timing considering Beto is giving him a run for his money. Also Hispanics have problems with Cruz. We stand up to bullies especially those who insult our family members like our wives. We don't roll over and forgive very easily. We are very loyal to our families and friends. We don't make fun of the disabled. We defend those who need help. We believe in true conservative spending. And we do not condone those who make racist statements.

Maybe Cruz ought to stick with being Canadian. If they let him.

Raising Campaign Cash. 8 days out: Konni Burton

I've written before about Texas Senator Konni Burton:
So Konni Burton raises 89% of her million dollars from 4 PACs including one that advocates for "Fiscal Responsibility". Yeah right. Its like taking money from a condom manufacturer for abstinence only policies. There is nothing fiscally responsible about funding your campaign with PAC money.
In her 8 day report Burton claims to have raised $503,328 but 80% comes from just 9 PACs and individuals. Texans for Lawsuit Reform donated $60,000, Dan Patrick $113,000, $116,000 from Greg Abbott and $10,000 from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC. $485,000 came from donations of $1000 or more.

Only $15,000 of her $503,000 came from citizen donations.

Raising Campaign Cash: Sid Miller

This is sad.

The clown of the Republican Party, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has reported only $13,500 for his re-election campaign according to his last financial report. The $13,500 from just 4 individuals and 1 PAC. The Koch PAC gave him $5000 and a cattle ranch gave him another $2500. Three others gave him $1000, $2500, and $2500. Miller still has a $159,000 loan he is responsible for.

His opponent, Kim Olson has raised $68,000 from 755 individuals without accepting PAC money.

Miller hasn't received any major endorsements. Even the Texas Farm Bureau has refused to endorse him.

Loaning Campaign Cash. Again. David Mayes Middleton

David Mayes Middleton running for State Representative in Galveston continues to raise money, from his own pocket. As I have said before:

According to his latest report Middleton has raised over $1.7 Million with $1.5 coming from his own pocket, 87% of his entire fundraising efforts. He paid $1.7Million to win in the Republican primary.

In his latest report Middleton claims he raised $86,000 but $52,500 came from his own pocket or maybe from a family member also named David Middleton.  The majority of his contributions come from various PACs. When all is said and done, Middleton is on course to spend over $2 million of his own money to win a State Representative seat in Austin.

His spending is off the charts. It's as if he is running in a highly competitive district. Even if he was in a competitive district spending $2.5 million is about 5 times more than what a competitive race should cost. Maybe he thinks all of his donations to himself are tax deductible. Or he is just laundering money. (kidding) Or he thinks it is charity to his buddies who perform consulting work.

Whatever it is, it is strange. And wrong. And legal. As I said to a reporter who asked "But..isn't this still legal?", a married elected official running on family values can legally go to Las Vegas and have sex with a hooker.

But it still isn't right.

TX Congressman Pete Olson's health

I have written about Pete Olson's pre-existing condition that will be covered regardless of the outcome of the lawsuit that could end coverage for everyone else but after watching the video below I am wondering if Olson is all there. Watch the first part then move to 8:10 to watch how he reacts to one of the few attendees of his meet and greet. She questioned his use of "Info-American" in reference to his opponent and to his reference to the chant "CNN Sucks". He looked rattled.

Olson was my Congressman back in 2008. During his few years representing NASA, before he moved to Sugarland to take advantage of the gerrymandering, Olson was instrumental in losing a United States Space Shuttle to New York as well as losing major integration facilities to other states.

Olson has put on weight. He has strange mannerisms. He looks like he is just going through the motions. His speech seems to be slow. His eyes sunken. Maybe the fact that a relatively unknown, exciting, opponent who is incredibly qualified for the job, has never ending energy, has been endorsed by the Houston Chronicle, and has worked district has gotten under his skin.

Win or lose I hope Olson will take a few weeks off and pay attention to his health because he looks like a pile of hammered dog poo.

The deafening Sounds of Silence: Republican "Leaders"

Disturb recorded a remake of Simon and Garfunkel's 1960's The Sounds of Silence. It is definitely worth a few minutes of your time if you have never heard it.

This is the new fight song for the Republican Party. Over the last 3+ years they have been silent. When their president makes racist statements, they are silent. When he incites violence towards the media, they are silent. When he personally attacks his political opponents they are silent.

When he lies, conspires with our enemies, condones the killing and dismembering of a Washington Post reporter, explodes the deficit to over $1 Trillion, suppresses the vote, endorses and distributes conspiracy theories, condones the slaughter with assault weapons, they are silent. They say nothing.

Pete Olson, Brian Babin, Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton, to name just a few, condone Trump's behavior by not speaking out. They have the authority to write to the President and say "Knock it off!" but won't. They simply endorse this attack on Americans and this horrible display of racism. They are cowards

At the very least Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Congressman John Culberson didn't attend Trump's hatefest in Houston for the crippling fear of his rabid racist base and losing their positions. They yelled silently. It is deafening.

And whispered in the sounds of silence

Poll worker ordered to remove NRA hat. #NoPlaceButTexas

It's sad when you have to tell a human being not to wear an nra hat while working the polls less than 48 hours after 11 Americans were slaughtered by a gun nut. Besides the fact that it is illegal, it is obscene and disrespectful towards the families, friends, and other Americans. From Fox 26 Houston:

County Clerk Stan Stanart claims all of his poll workers and presiding judges must be neutral and cannot wear any type of clothing such as an NRA hat, yet he obviously forgot to tell his poll workers and presiding judges. He also wasn't going to do anything about the complaint which was filed early in the morning until Fox 26 called for a statement.

What bothers me the most is that the presiding judge, a republican, knew he was going to wear this hat. She allowed it. She condoned it and she defended him when a complaint was filed. As a judge she has the authority to tell her workers to remove any obvious inappropriate clothing or to leave the area. She refused.

What kind of a Christian would think this was appropriate? What kind of human being would think this was appropriate? It makes your heart hurt for our country.

Republican election worker wears NRA hat at polls in Clear Lake

It really just pisses me off.

I may have said the g--damn word maybe 5 times in my entire life. Today was one of them. I walked up to vote in Clear Lake today to take advantage of the short line. The person giving out instructions on what was needed to vote was wearing an NRA hat. It might has well been a MAGAt hat.

I looked at him and simply said "Take that g--damn hat off!". I then had a very long discussion with the presiding judge who has the authority to tell him to either leave or take off the hat. I had to remind her that 11 human beings were shot less than 48 hours ago. I had to remind her that a gun nut had taken the lives of 11 Jewish Americans with an AR-15. I told her she had the authority to tell him to leave or to take the hat off. She defended him until I told her I would file a complaint and bring the media. (if they would come)

She agreed to tell him to take it off....until she could talk to Stan Stanart, her boss. I bet this asshole of man will put it back on. She claimed it was illegal. I told her that farting in a crowded elevator was legal but it was extremely disrespectful.

What part of being an asshole do republicans not understand? BTW both are right wing republicans.

Will Latinos vote or sit at the kids table?

In late 2016 two kids yelled “BUILD THE WALL” at a Mexican-American driving an old pick up truck loaded with tree debris. It took a minute to understand why.

What will it take for the Latino community to take their seat at their own table and stop these racially motivated comments?  Historically the Latino community, as a whole, does not vote its strength unlike the Black community, the Muslim community, or the White community. No matter who runs or what they run on we just don’t vote. We accept a seat at the Thanksgiving kids table without a fight. It’s disappointing. It’s embarrassing. It’s lazy.

The Latino apologist claim the Democrats don’t reach out to us, they don’t recognize our needs or offer us a ride to the polls serving coffee and donuts. They say “If we don’t vote, you don’t win” and yet we still don’t vote. This year we have no excuses. If there are problems with reaching out let’s take our seats at our table and raise that issue. Until then the Latino community needs to quit making excuses for those of us who will not vote.

The community has good reason to vote. The current president and his party does not reflect the values of the Latino community. We believe in family values not family separation. We appreciate good jobs with fair pay. We want the ability to afford medical treatment for our sick children without having to declare bankruptcy. And we do not appreciate the hatred directed at those who look like us.

The Republican Party has directed vile comments towards “illegal aliens”, those who have brown skin and who speak Spanish. They called them rapists, murderers, and gang members. They have demonized the language calling for us to speak “Merican”. They make wild claims about terror babies and when confronted about their comments they use the excuse of “We are only talking about illegals”.

Well, those “illegals” look like us. They talk like us. They eat like us. These unnecessary, racist, attacks against them are wrong and they rub off on us. Yet we, as a community, sit back and do nothing about it.

The members of the Republican Party continue to attack Latinos for good reason. We don’t vote. We don’t hold them accountable. If we, as a united community, got off the couch, stood in line and voted, no candidate, no political activist, and no elected official of either party would ever question our language, our heritage, or the color of our skin for fear of being run out of office and out of our Country.

If there was ever a time to take our seat at our own table it is now. The hatred towards the Latino community must stop. The angry, racist, dog whistles turned into angry bullhorns must stop. And the only way to do this is to take what is rightfully ours by exercising our right to vote, perform our duty as Americans, claim our seat at our table, and tell them to shut the hell up.

BTW. My truck blew a head gasket. I had to sell it.

Why do you have to be a dick about everything: Stan Stanart

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart has joined Louie Gohmert, Sid Miller, and Donald trump in the "Why do you have to be a dick about everything?" club.

Stan Stanart was elected back in 2010 during the tea bagger take over. He has only one job, that is to run the elections in Harris County and he has pretty much sucked at it. (actually he has more than one job but the one he sucks at is the most notable) He is all in for trump. He fully supports a racist, a liar, a rotten human being as the leader of his party and the country. And he just can't get away from the republican tactic of fear mongering. From the Houston Chronicle:

Stanart's use of George Soros-related fear-mongering on his campaign website also brings an unnecessary tinge of partisanship to his office and panders to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. His site says that the Jewish Hungarian billionaire "wants to control Harris County Elections" — a bizarre and inaccurate claim. Stanart told us it was based on a rumor that later turned out to be untrue, but he never changed the website.

Even after the shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue which killed 11 people and wounded 4 police officers, Stanart has refused to change the content on his website. This goes beyond fear mongering. It goes beyond running a hard campaign. This is just another republican, Stan Stanart, being a racist, rotten, dick about everything.

Begging for Campaign Cash: Tx Ag Commissioner Sid Miller

In the word of Donald Trump: SAD!

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is begging for donations and for good reason. He has an outstanding loan of $195,000 and he has no credible fundraising capability. From a former พนันออนไลน์ ฟรีเครดิตpost:
Miller only has 13 donors and 2 pledges of $15,000 including $10,000 from Drayton McClane, former owner of the Houston Astros. His total loans dating back to 2012 $750,000 came from 3 individuals,
Miller has a problem. First, he is a Texas sized jackass. Even the Texas Farm Bureau will not endorse him for fear of getting kicked in the what nots by their wives. Like Ted Cruz nobody likes Sid Miller and nobody is giving him money except for his 13 buddies. It's obviously drying up so he is begging for dollars.

The reality of the situation is expensive. If Miller loses his bid for re-election it will be very hard to have a fundraiser to pay off his debts. If he loses he will be as popular as herpes at a hot tub party. No one will go to his fundraiser. No one will give him money. He will be stuck with a $195,000 loan.

This is what happens when you are a Texas sized jackass.

TX Congressman Pete Olson's pre-existing condition

Many Texans have a pre-existing condition including Congressman Pete Olson from Sugarland.

During one of the very few town hall meetings Pete has had with his constituents he discussed how he fainted during a workout in the Capital gym. According to CNN:
“While working out in the House gym, I got quite dizzy and fainted,” Olson said in the note sent Friday by his campaign committee. “After being rushed to George Washington University Hospital, it was determined that I had a condition called bradycardia, which is medical talk for a slow heart beat. Whatever they call it, it wasn't good and I don't recommend it.”
Unlike Pete, most Texans will find their insurance that covers pre-existing conditions will be cut allowing the insurance company to raise premiums or opt not to cover your family in your time of need. Lucky for Pete his insurance, provided by the Federal Government, and paid by tax dollars has always covered pre-existing conditions and will alway cover them.

Pete is working hard to relieve the insurance industry from having to cover pre-existing conditions in your family while knowing his slow heart beat will always be covered. He and his family will always be covered and protected but if the lawsuit Pete supports lead by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is successful you family will not.

Pete also suffers from a condition called "cold hearted".

No on Ed.

Ed Emmett meets most of the qualifications required for the office of County Judge. Most.

Emmett is the type of politician the Republican Party sorely needs in this country,  from City Council to the Presidency. You won’t find Emmett inviting a camera crew to his office to have a discussion with a country western singer. He won’t be having a fit of knee jerk reactions on every social issue facing the county. He won’t be saying anything racist or commenting about the good people in the White Supremacist organizations carrying Tiki torches. He won't resort to calling his political opponents awful names names unfit for discussion at the dinner table.

Instead, Emmett “hunkers down”, performs the job he was elected to do, keeps his divisive opinions to himself (if he has any) and actually acts like an elected official who respects the fact he has the title of “The Honorable” in front of his name. Voters should demand this from every elected official and candidate. It serves the voters well. It helps bring the community together and creates the opportunity for voters and constituents to actually listen to and trust our elected officials during times of need such as a hurricane or massive flooding.

Emmett has performed his official duties and his responsibilities well but has failed on moral leadership. Americans across all levels of government are begging elected officials to stand up and act like human beings when it comes to “family values”. On this Emmett has failed. As the leader of the Republican party in Harris County he has failed to lead his party away from this awful, angry, racist, mentality brought to a head by Dan Patrick, Sid Miller, Ted Cruz  and Donald Trump. He has failed to speak out forcefully about racist comments made by the leaders of his party. He has failed to speak out against separating children from mothers looking for asylum in the United States. He has failed to tell the members of his party and the leadership of his party to simply “knock it off”. Instead he hunkered down, in the corner, out of sight of the cameras, out of sight of the daily controversies, and out of sight of the angry, racist, mob that now dominates the Republican Party.

Judge Emmett should be commended for performing his job without unnecessary fanfare and yelling into the cameras when opportunity arises, but when it comes to moral leadership of his party he has been hunkered down in a corner quiet as a mouse.

I nailed it: Republicans announce they are coming for Social Security

This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

By Tom Toles of the Washington Post
From a previous post:
So now with a newly created $1.5 Trillion hole in the budget created by the trump tax plan, look for massive cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Education, Environment Protection.
The Republican Party has just announce their intentions of cutting so called "entitlements" the services and benefits Americans are entitled to receive because they have paid for them! They have called for cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and you won't believe why they claim this is necessary. Here is Mitch McConnell:
"It’s disappointing, but it’s not a Republican problem," McConnell said of the deficit, which grew 17 percent to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018. McConnell explained to Bloomberg that "it’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future." The deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015.
Yep. The tax cuts for the rich have created a $1 trillion deficit. This was expected. All economists predicted the cuts would benefit the top 1% and major stock holders. They predicted a huge deficit. And I predicted cuts to Social Security just like what happened here in Texas.
Creating a hole in the budget was all part of the republican plan because it would eventually justify massive cuts to education and services. Texas, by law, requires a balanced budget so what better way to cut education than to create a massive debt then blame the "out of control spending" by the public education community? And that is exactly what happened. Someone had to pay for the tax cuts for the business community so Education was hit by over $5 Billion in just the first year.
This was all part of the plan.
