Spending Campaign Cash: Justice Democrats

Justice Democrats is a Bernie Sanders organization for far left candidates including Alexandria Cortez-Ocasio. As I said before:

Justice Democrats didn't perform very well. According to Justice Democrats they elected 7 of their endorsed candidates to Congress. 2 were incumbents in deep blue districts. 1 was unopposed.  4 were all in very blue districts wiping out their general election opponents. It's not like they were endorsing in tough competitive states like Texas, although those they did lost. All of them. One raised over a $1 Million and lost 70-30 in the primary.

Looking at their spending for the last two years, Justice Democrats spent about $2,250,000. $633,000 on wages ranging from $71,000 to $32,000 for ab out 13 employees. $217,000 on Payroll taxes, $270,000 on fundraising, and $88,000 on Credit Card fees.

They also spent $605,000 on "Strategic Consulting" paid to the Brand New Congress, another Bernie Sanders organization. This leaves about $526,000 for overhead expenses, rent, legal fees, etc but nothing was spent for donations to individuals candidates. I'm not quite sure what Justice Democrats accomplished besides raising and spending money but not on individual candidates.

Maybe looking at Brand New Congress spending will give more insight.

Before Republicans start yelling CIVILITY NOW!

The Party of Trump is in no position to be running around calling for CIVILITY NOW! CIVILITY NOW!

Over the last three years the Republican Party has embraced, endorsed, and encouraged the behavior of Trump and has mimicked him to attack individuals and groups. Now after a single appearance on Saturday Night Live by one of their new Congressmen they are calling for civility. Really? REALLY? The Republican Party is the last group of people who should be calling for civility from anyone.

This is the party that mocked a disabled American. They have hurled and continue to hurl racist insults towards Latinos, African Americans, and others. They labeled our Muslims Americans as terrorists. They cheered while young brown children were separated from their parents and put into cages. Their women cheered while their leaders referred to them as C***s. They watched silently while their party leaders acted like rotten human beings using unfounded fears to win elections. They lied, over and over and over again on a daily basis. They have embraced every single conspiracy theory with no basis of facts whatsoever. They re-elected candidates who are mired in felony indictments. They mocked mothers who lost their children to gun violence. They trample on the rule of law especially those involved with Russia. And they have tolerated and endorsed those who continue to be lying, racist, law breaking, rotten human beings.

The Republican Party has no right to be calling for civility now. They have the right to shut up and learn how to be human again. They need to clean their own house, throw out the racists,  mysogynists, liars, cheats, criminals, and rotten human beings and those who tolerate them from their ranks. Then, and only then, can they start yelling CIVILITY NOW! CIVILITY NOW!

Clean your own damn pig sty before asking your neighbors to tidy their house.

Rebooting the Harris County Republican Party

The out going Harris County Judge, Ed Emmett, says the Harris County Republican Party needs a reboot after getting a boot shoved so far up their butt their breath will smell like Desenex for the next two years. Emmett waited a bit too long to finally speak up.

I'm sure the HCRP is not interested in very pointed ideas coming from a former Republican but here are some ideas they might want to consider:

  1. Dump Trump. You made a mistake in 2016. Trump has turned your party into a group of racist, lying, cheating, conspiracy theory, rotten assholes. That stench might be hard to wash off but wash you must.
  2. Don't be racist. It's sad someone has to tell you not to be a racist. Racism is bad. Really, really, baaaaad. Not only should you not be a racist you should speak out against those who are., immediately and forcefully. Your party tolerates and condones racism. That must stop.
  3. Stop acting like a bag of dicks. Seriously. Why do you have to praise people like Sid Miller the mini trump of the Texas Republican Party. Can't you at least act as if you have the title "The Honorable" in front of your name?
  4. Don't call women the C word. Again. Why do we have to tell you this? You are not in Jr. High. Grow up and treat women with respect and call out those who don't. If you are a republican woman who is condoning this type of behavior maybe a course on self esteem is warranted.
  5. Stop suppressing the vote. Everyone citizen has the right to vote and should have the right to exercise that right. You act like you want to restrict voting by making it harder to register and harder to vote. Stop it.
  6. Dump the NRA. They have become a boat anchor. Americans are tired of being shot. High school kids are rising up for this issue alone. You are on a long term losing path. Even the NRA was silent during this election. They are hurting you. No one is coming for your guns. Start acting like it.
  7. Stop lying. No one is coming for our guns. There isn't an invasion coming from the south. There is no voter fraud. There is no need for a voter ID. There were no WMDs. Stop lying to your party members.
  8. Stop spending money. What the hell happened to the "Fiscally Conservative" party? Our country under republican rule now has a $1Trillion deficit just so your party could give your donors a huge tax cut.
  9. Embrace health care. No one wants to mortgage their house to pay for treatment for their kids. Your health care plan has failed.
  10. Stop saying "Conservative".  And finally, you are not conservative. Stop saying your are. You no longer have conservative or family values. As I have said before:
Conservatives do not mock the disabled.
They don't create massive out of control deficits.
They don't make jokes about those dying of cancer.
They don't violate or ignore the laws of our country.
They don't tolerate sexual abuse.
They don't tolerate family violence.
They don't interrupt people while talking.
They don't call people names.
They don't say racist things.
They don't refer to Native Americans as "Pocahontas"
They don't make fun of other peoples language.
They don't call people of color "rapists".
They don't call Muslims "terrorists".
They don't endorse hate groups, the KKK, or white supremacy.
They don't disrespect elected officials even those they disagree with.
They don't lie. Every. Single. Day.
They don't walk around with loaded assault weapons in public.

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart removes anti-Semitic website

Why do we have to tell elected officials to not be anti-Semitic?

According to the Houston Chronicle:
After the Houston Chronicle posted an article Tuesday in which observers described the Soros attack as a "dog whistle" to anti-Semites, references to Soros disappeared from the site.

Harris County Clerk Stan Stanart was  the subject of a previous post "Why do you have to be a dick about everything?" because of his dog whistle re-election website. This is the second time Stanart has had to be called out. Earlier this week Stanart wasn't going to enforce the law at an early voting location in Clear Lake by demanding a poll worker to remove his nra hat....until Fox 26 called him out on it. He quickly threw his workers under the bus and required him to either remove the hat or leave.

This behavior has become a habit for republicans. Why do we have to tell republican elected officials not to be racist, not to mock the disabled, not to send dick pics, not to call a woman the C word, not to use the N word, and not to post anti-Semitic material on their re-election website?

It's as if they don't want to be an elected official anymore. We can help them on November 6.

Raising Campaign Cash. 8 days out: Konni Burton

I've written before about Texas Senator Konni Burton:
So Konni Burton raises 89% of her million dollars from 4 PACs including one that advocates for "Fiscal Responsibility". Yeah right. Its like taking money from a condom manufacturer for abstinence only policies. There is nothing fiscally responsible about funding your campaign with PAC money.
In her 8 day report Burton claims to have raised $503,328 but 80% comes from just 9 PACs and individuals. Texans for Lawsuit Reform donated $60,000, Dan Patrick $113,000, $116,000 from Greg Abbott and $10,000 from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC. $485,000 came from donations of $1000 or more.

Only $15,000 of her $503,000 came from citizen donations.

Raising Campaign Cash: Sid Miller

This is sad.

The clown of the Republican Party, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has reported only $13,500 for his re-election campaign according to his last financial report. The $13,500 from just 4 individuals and 1 PAC. The Koch PAC gave him $5000 and a cattle ranch gave him another $2500. Three others gave him $1000, $2500, and $2500. Miller still has a $159,000 loan he is responsible for.

His opponent, Kim Olson has raised $68,000 from 755 individuals without accepting PAC money.

Miller hasn't received any major endorsements. Even the Texas Farm Bureau has refused to endorse him.

Loaning Campaign Cash. Again. David Mayes Middleton

David Mayes Middleton running for State Representative in Galveston continues to raise money, from his own pocket. As I have said before:

According to his latest report Middleton has raised over $1.7 Million with $1.5 coming from his own pocket, 87% of his entire fundraising efforts. He paid $1.7Million to win in the Republican primary.

In his latest report Middleton claims he raised $86,000 but $52,500 came from his own pocket or maybe from a family member also named David Middleton.  The majority of his contributions come from various PACs. When all is said and done, Middleton is on course to spend over $2 million of his own money to win a State Representative seat in Austin.

His spending is off the charts. It's as if he is running in a highly competitive district. Even if he was in a competitive district spending $2.5 million is about 5 times more than what a competitive race should cost. Maybe he thinks all of his donations to himself are tax deductible. Or he is just laundering money. (kidding) Or he thinks it is charity to his buddies who perform consulting work.

Whatever it is, it is strange. And wrong. And legal. As I said to a reporter who asked "But..isn't this still legal?", a married elected official running on family values can legally go to Las Vegas and have sex with a hooker.

But it still isn't right.

The deafening Sounds of Silence: Republican "Leaders"

Disturb recorded a remake of Simon and Garfunkel's 1960's The Sounds of Silence. It is definitely worth a few minutes of your time if you have never heard it.

This is the new fight song for the Republican Party. Over the last 3+ years they have been silent. When their president makes racist statements, they are silent. When he incites violence towards the media, they are silent. When he personally attacks his political opponents they are silent.

When he lies, conspires with our enemies, condones the killing and dismembering of a Washington Post reporter, explodes the deficit to over $1 Trillion, suppresses the vote, endorses and distributes conspiracy theories, condones the slaughter with assault weapons, they are silent. They say nothing.

Pete Olson, Brian Babin, Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton, to name just a few, condone Trump's behavior by not speaking out. They have the authority to write to the President and say "Knock it off!" but won't. They simply endorse this attack on Americans and this horrible display of racism. They are cowards

At the very least Harris County Judge Ed Emmett and Congressman John Culberson didn't attend Trump's hatefest in Houston for the crippling fear of his rabid racist base and losing their positions. They yelled silently. It is deafening.

And whispered in the sounds of silence

Begging for Campaign Cash: Tx Ag Commissioner Sid Miller

In the word of Donald Trump: SAD!

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is begging for donations and for good reason. He has an outstanding loan of $195,000 and he has no credible fundraising capability. From a former post:
Miller only has 13 donors and 2 pledges of $15,000 including $10,000 from Drayton McClane, former owner of the Houston Astros. His total loans dating back to 2012 $750,000 came from 3 individuals,
Miller has a problem. First, he is a Texas sized jackass. Even the Texas Farm Bureau will not endorse him for fear of getting kicked in the what nots by their wives. Like Ted Cruz nobody likes Sid Miller and nobody is giving him money except for his 13 buddies. It's obviously drying up so he is begging for dollars.

The reality of the situation is expensive. If Miller loses his bid for re-election it will be very hard to have a fundraiser to pay off his debts. If he loses he will be as popular as herpes at a hot tub party. No one will go to his fundraiser. No one will give him money. He will be stuck with a $195,000 loan.

This is what happens when you are a Texas sized jackass.

No on Ed.

Ed Emmett meets most of the qualifications required for the office of County Judge. Most.

Emmett is the type of politician the Republican Party sorely needs in this country,  from City Council to the Presidency. You won’t find Emmett inviting a camera crew to his office to have a discussion with a country western singer. He won’t be having a fit of knee jerk reactions on every social issue facing the county. He won’t be saying anything racist or commenting about the good people in the White Supremacist organizations carrying Tiki torches. He won't resort to calling his political opponents awful names names unfit for discussion at the dinner table.

Instead, Emmett “hunkers down”, performs the job he was elected to do, keeps his divisive opinions to himself (if he has any) and actually acts like an elected official who respects the fact he has the title of “The Honorable” in front of his name. Voters should demand this from every elected official and candidate. It serves the voters well. It helps bring the community together and creates the opportunity for voters and constituents to actually listen to and trust our elected officials during times of need such as a hurricane or massive flooding.

Emmett has performed his official duties and his responsibilities well but has failed on moral leadership. Americans across all levels of government are begging elected officials to stand up and act like human beings when it comes to “family values”. On this Emmett has failed. As the leader of the Republican party in Harris County he has failed to lead his party away from this awful, angry, racist, mentality brought to a head by Dan Patrick, Sid Miller, Ted Cruz  and Donald Trump. He has failed to speak out forcefully about racist comments made by the leaders of his party. He has failed to speak out against separating children from mothers looking for asylum in the United States. He has failed to tell the members of his party and the leadership of his party to simply “knock it off”. Instead he hunkered down, in the corner, out of sight of the cameras, out of sight of the daily controversies, and out of sight of the angry, racist, mob that now dominates the Republican Party.

Emmett had the opportunity to restore his party to what it once was, a party that campaigned on “Family values” instead of family separation. A party that embraced facts and figures instead of deception, dishonesty and lies. A party that respected the rule of law instead of ignoring the law based upon who rules. He had the opportunity to stop his party from further moral erosion when their leader mocked a disabled American or a woman debate moderator. He had the opportunity to use his leadership to stop his party from unleashing angry, hateful attacks on Hispanics, Muslims, teachers, women, civil servants, the disabled, the gay community, and other constituents. Instead he sat quietly in the corner. This is a failure by Judge Emmett of moral leadership.

Judge Emmett should be commended for performing his job without unnecessary fanfare and yelling into the cameras when opportunity arises, but when it comes to moral leadership of his party he has been hunkered down in a corner quiet as a mouse.

Loaning Campaign Cash: Texas State Rep Patrick Fallon

This is getting to be a pattern for republicans in Texas.

Much like Kathleen Wall's failed $6 Million attempt at buying a seat in Congress and David Mays Middleton's $2 million attempt to buy a seat in Austin, State Representative Patrick Fallon is trying his hand at spending his own money to win a Senate seat.

In his report filed before the primary Fallon has raised a whooping $2 Million but, once again, looking a bit closer that included $1.8 Million from his own pocket. He started with $217,000 and the only raised $2800. He currently still owes $1Million on his personal loan and has $135,000 cash on hand.

90% of all the money Fallon has raised has come from his own fortunes. Fallon, like trump, is rich and will use his money to get what he wants. He is also running on the same racist platform as trump. Fallon claims to be a "fiscal" conservative ready to spend his own money to buy his own seat at our table.

Maybe that is the only way republicans can win any more. Like Sid Miller maybe Texans don't want to give to people who are racists or who support racists.

Raising Campaign Cash: Senator Konni Burton

Konni Burton is in a good competitive fight for her seat in the Texas Senate. That is probably why the big guns have come out in her fundraising defense.

According to her latest financial reports Burton raised an impressive $1,055,000 over the last 3 months but look closer. $938,000 came from just 1 individual and 4 PACs. Dan Patrick contributed $40,000. Texans for Lawsuit Deform donated $333,000. Empower Texas $250,000. $40,000 from Texas Realtor PAC. And here is the kicker: $250,000 from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC.

So Konni Burton raises 89% of her million dollars from 4 PACs including one that advocates for "Fiscal Responsibility". Yeah right. Its like taking money from a condom manufacturer for abstinence only policies. There is nothing fiscally responsible about funding your campaign with PAC money.

$1,036,400 comes from donations of $1000 or more, 98% of her entire fundraising. She also has an outstanding loan from her husband for a total of $240,000. Her loan totals $295,000.

Raising Campaign Cash: Stan Stanart

Not much to see here folks.

Stan Stanart the Harris County Clerk is the guy who can't seem to do the one job he was assigned, that is to run the elections in the 3rd largest county in the country efficiently. He can't seem to raise money either.

In his last report he has raised about $26,000 from 17 individuals, but $17,000 came from just 5 individuals who are out of the county. This includes $5000 from Colorado and another $5000 from Kathleen Wall, the lady who spent $6 Million of her own money in a losing effort to win a seat in Congress.

And that is it. Not a lot to be smiling about. #FireStanStanart

Raising Campaign Cash: Ruben Villarreal HD 144

Looks like Ruben Villarreal running for State Representative in House District 144 has been abandoned by Texans for Lawsuit Reform.

Villarreal's financial report for the last reporting period isn't very impressive. As stated in my last post:
$22,500 out of the $24,850 raised came from 3 PACS, $20,000 from Texans for Lawsuit Reform a front group for businesses in Texas, $1500 from the Hispanic Republican PAC, and $1000 from the State Farm PAC. Only $2350 came from individuals.
This time around he has only raised $4475 from 5 individuals and one builder PAC for $1500. TLR didn't contribute. Neither did the Republican Hispanic organization. It looks like they are cutting their losses. He still has a $13,000 outstanding loan and he has only $6200 cash on hand.

Spending Campaign Cash: David Mayes Middleton

For someone who isn't running much of a campaign David Mayes Middleton running for State Representative in Galveston is spending a boatload of money.

During this last reporting period Middleton spent $182,000 with $33,000 coming out of his own pocket (again) for donations to various organizations. He spent $63,000 on salaries (in just 3 months for 11 people), $51,000 on "campaign services", $39,000 on "Consulting", $40,000 on advertising, and $3000 was spent on "Overhead" for electricity and utilities.

Middleton must not care too much about spending campaign cash. Why would he if most of it is his own?

See Buying a State Representative seat: David Mayes Middleton

Buying a State Representative seat: David Mayes Middleton

This is just plain sick.

David Middleton is running for a State Representative seat in Austin representing the Galveston area. As I have stated before:

According to his latest report Middleton has raised over $1.7 Million with $1.5 coming from his own pocket, 87% of his entire fundraising efforts. He paid $1.7Million to win in the Republican primary.

His latest filings claims he has raised about $248,000 during the period ending in Oct. That is a very good haul for a State Representative campaign. But the $248,000 includes $225,000 from his own pocket! Once again Middleton is buying his seat in Austin. He has since written off all of his $1.7 million loans.

So he only raised $23,000 for the period ending in Oct, about as much as Sid Miller raised. Let's face it Middleton is rich. Filthy rich. He has enough money to donate almost $2 Million of his own money to win a seat in Austin. $2 Million is an insane amount for a State Representative race. Completely insane

Middleton is buying his seat in our government. This is what is wrong with politics today coupled with dark money, PACs,  and allowing unlimited contributions from anyone. The amount of money he is spending is filthy.

Ain't that rich?

Raising Campaign Cash: Sid Miller

OUCH! Sid Miller is all hat and no cash.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller cant raise money. Currently he has $52,000 which includes a $350,000 loan. He only raised $24,000 in this period and he still owes $195,000 towards the loan.

Miller only has 13 donors and 2 pledges of $15,000 including $10,000 from Drayton McClane, former owner of the Houston Astros. His total loans dating back to 2012 $750,000 came from 3 individuals, Brad Allen, Richard Redalen, and Trammell Crow. Allen is a nursery owner in Stephanville he loaned Miller $400,000. Miller’s campaign treasurer is Ted Nugent. Yes. Ted Nugent. I'm not kidding. Miller has come under fire for his lax reporting. According to the พนันออนไลน์ ฟรีเครดิตDallas Morning News:
In November, The Dallas Morning News revealed that Miller lent himself $10,000 at an interest rate of 10 percent when he was running for the House in 2000. When Miller lost his seat 12 years later, he repaid himself more than $31,000 due to interest accrued.

In contrast his opponent Kim Olson has raised over $125,000 in the same period from over 1000 donors.

Conservative TX State Senator Charles Schwertner joins dick pic club

What is it with Republicans sending dick pics? Texas State Senator Charles Schwertner website claims he is a "physician, family man, and life-long conservative." yet he may have just joined Congressman Joe Barton in the republic party dick pic club. The University of Texas is investigating and may ban him from the campus.  From FoxNews: (yes....even Fox News is reporting this)

Schwertner allegedly texted the student, “I just really want to f--- you,”  and sent her a photo of what appeared to be his genitals in the shower. The image does not show his face, officials said, and the student never responded to the message.

Gross. Ew. Ewww. EWWWWWW!

Oh my gosh what the hell is going on with the republic party? Joe Barton resigned in disgrace after sending dick pics leaving a Congressional seat he held for decades suddenly open. You would have thought a physician, family man, and life-long conservative would have been smart enough to expose himself in person instead of sending a text. What ever happened to the age old sexy phone call, or meeting in the cloak room, or grabbing them by the p****?

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert had this to say about Schwertner: "I can't help but wonder when I see you looking there, with a little smirk, how many times did you look so innocent into your wife's eye and lie to her about your dick pic"

Ok. He didn't say that towards Schwertner, but he could have. Lt Governor Dan Patrick had this to say: "Holy f***! What the living hell was he thinking? It's sad I have to tell my own Senators to not send dick pics! Do it in person!"

Ok. He didn't say that either.

Texas Congressman attacks law enforcement!

Who would have thunk it?

Many people believe the Republic Party is pro law enforcement, but that really isn't true anymore. Case in point, Texas Congressman Brian Babin. Babin has continued his attack on the men and women of the Federal Bureau of Investigation with his latest email to his constituents:
Two weeks ago, I joined with my House colleagues to call for the declassification of the Carter Page FISA warrant application. This past week, President Trump delivered by ordering the FISA application, key documents, and text messages to be declassified. I hope these documents will be released without delay so the American people can get the answers that they deserve.

A few months ago Babin supported the disclosure of classified information questioning the FBI and it blew up in his face. His party claimed the information was "worse than Watergate  and would end in indictments. It didn't. It was yet another bust. He has also claimed the men and women of the FBI have created a "secret society" to stage a coup against the president. He has worn the aluminum foil hat with pride to protect the president.

Once upon a time the republic party was the party of "law and order", tough on crime, protectors of the universe. Today Babin and his party have shown their true colors by supporting and making excuses for the most corrupt human being to ever hold the office of president.

There will be a time when Brian Babin will have to take a break from attacking law enforcement and wipe the egg off his face.

Why #NoBodyLikesTedCruz. Again

Ted Cruz makes it hard to like Ted Cruz.

His latest stunt wasn't just deceiving, one State Representative believes it violated Texas law. Cruz mailed a fundraising letter which looked on the surfaces as a summons. He could have sent a letter with a picture of him standing in the Senate shutting down the government, or maybe a picture of him defending his wife from Trump, but instead he used a method of deception. Many of us can smell a rat an envelope away but others may be fooled into opening this solicitation. From the Austin Statesman:
“Received this for my 88-year-old grandma,” Owen said in his post, which also shared a photo of the envelope. “Says it’s a summons from Travis County, but is actually for money for @tedcruz. Did your campaign authorize this? Is this even legal? Shame on you. That’s one more @BetoORourke voter.”
According to State Representative Gene Wu this solicitation may violate the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act:
“A person commits an offense if the person recklessly causes to be delivered to another any document that simulates a summons, complaint, judgment or other court process with the intent to: (1) induce payment of a claim from another person; or (2) cause another to: (A) submit to the putative authority of the document; or (B) take any action or refrain from taking any action in response to the document, in compliance with the document, or on the basis of the document,” the statute states.
Representative Wu's comment on the summons letter adequately sums up why #NobodyLikesTedCruz:  “this still absolutely violates the spirit of the law. And even if it doesn’t violate the spirit of the law, this is slimy as hell.”
